Position Summary
Evaluate and optimize current production processes by using all available resources. Improve on-going operations through innovation based on analysis of the process, equipment, downtime, defect rates, and root cause analysis. Participation in defining new projects and monitoring effectiveness. Investigate and implement new technologies to improve daily operations. Work closely with manufacturing, quality, validation, engineering, site facilities/maintenance, and various departments in investigations to determine the root cause for production issues. Integration of knowledge by working with other areas to ensure site and company strategies are met.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES may include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Technical/functional analysis of data and procedures derived of existing production processes, to actively direct and support improvement initiatives. Establish and supervise key KPI.
- Create improvement plans to improve critical metrics including increasing uptime, reducing defects, and improving the robustness of the process and equipment.
- Prepare Scope of Work and bid documents for systems fabrication and installation.
- Responsible for managing upgrade projects in support of existing systems for manufacturing processes and utilities.
- Interact with multidisciplined work groups to reach objective deadlines.
- Plan, direct, and manage internal projects using project management tools and drive change controls with the quality system.
Required Experience/Skills & Educational Qualifications

- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering.
- Five (5) years of experience in mechanical or chemical engineering in an industrial environment. Familiarity with generally accepted good engineering practices and standards.
- Familiarity with local and national codes and standards as they relate to pharmaceutical projects.
- In depth knowledge of pharmaceutical process systems including batching, separation and clarification processes.
- Knowledge of pharmaceutical grade water purification systems design and operation.
- Knowledge of mechanical systems including HVAC and refrigeration systems.
- Knowledge of FDA guidelines for manufacturing of biologics preferred.
- AutoCAD drawing capability.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to frequently lift, push, and pull up to 50 lbs.
The estimated pay scale for the Process Engineer role based in Los Angeles, CA, is $100,000 - $110,000 per year. Additionally, the position is eligible to participate in up to 8% of the company bonus pool. Final compensation packages will ultimately depend on education, experience, skillset, knowledge, where the role is performed, internal equity and market data.
