Territory Account Manager

Seeking someone with a passion for advancing personalized medicine, translational research, drug development, and therapeutics development. Successful candidate will be creative, driven, and resourceful, with responsibility to help transition Illumina’s NGS technologies from research to clinical diagnostic testing and cutting edge therapeutics. The territory account manager will work with clients to expand Illumina’s footprint and drive revenue within a territory that includes: Louisiana, Mississippi, Oklahoma, Arkansas, and West Tennessee.
Responsibilities:
- Engage customers to effectively position and sell complex workflows
- Successfully navigate and manage a multi-tiered sales process for both capital equipment, consumables, and services
- Understand economic trends driving decision making in current biotech and pharma markets
- Provide accurate sales forecasts, with a focus on instrument placement and reagent pull through
- Manage sales pipeline
- Build a short/medium/long term sales pipeline and manage the necessary levels of sales leads, prospects, and opportunities
- Build and maintain relationships at all levels of the customer organization. Facilitate communication and relationship building between Illumina and client executives.
- Develop and execute on territory and account-specific sales plans to meet assigned sales quotas
- Understand the competitive dynamics within the account and lead development and implementation of strategies and tactics that best position Illumina technology and products to neutralize competitor growth.
- Deliver compelling technical/scientific seminars and presentations on Illumina products and their capabilities
- Partner cross-functionally with Illumina colleagues in sales, service, support, and marketing to appropriately address the needs of customer base
- Demonstrate command of scientific knowledge to engage in collaborative sales process
- Develop a solid understanding of genomics, next generation sequencing and genotyping. This is the foundation of the position and the portfolio
- Develop high-value, long-term profitable customer accounts through relationship building sales techniques.

Requirements:
- Strong technical background in molecular biology, sequencing, or genomics (preferred)
- Understanding of the clinical research market, therapeutics development and drug development markets
- 3+ years or equivalent of proven sales experience in a strategic selling environment i.e. life science capital equipment or a related area
- Strong understanding of current trends, challenges, opportunities within the healthcare industry
- Previous demonstrated success with complex sales and within in multi-layered environment preferred
- Strong negotiation skills including high-value capital equipment or
- Proven track record growing specific, targeted markets
- Demonstrated track record in lead generation and prospecting
- Highly adaptable and independent
- Excellent listening, time management, organizational and interpersonal skills
- Team minded approach to selling
- Self-starter: desire to seek creative solutions, learn and adapt to a changing landscape.
- Work remotely
- Candidate should reside within the covered territory.
Education:
- Life Science Degree is required, advanced degree a plus
