Job Description

Product Manager, Proteomics, is responsible for building Illumina’s proteomics portfolio. This position resides within the Multiomic Assays Product Management team, reporting to the lead proteomics product manager. The successful candidate will be an independent individual with multiomics expertise who will act as the subject expert with internal stakeholders and with the external partners.

Responsibilities

Business Planning and Strategy:

  • Together with the team defines and maintains the strategy and business plan for Illumina's proteomics portfolio
  • Assesses market needs and gaps, opportunities and trends, and competitive landscape
  • Defines business cases and project proposals for new product features

Product Lifecycle Management:

  • Serves as customer advocate and product management representative on core teams; drives market requirements and tradeoff decisions
  • Ensures efficiency and coordination of portfolio activities with other product managers
  • Partners with Regional Marketing and Commercial teams to provide guidance, input, and support for product updates and launches

Cross-functional Leadership:

  • Establishes and maintains relationships with key customers and partners
  • Provides input (e.g., product, service needs) to technical platform roadmap

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required, MBA or PhD a plus.
  • Must have industry experience in Product Marketing/Management or other customer-facing roles.
  • Must have technical knowledge in proteomics and NGS workflows.
  • Must have analytical skills – ability to tie detailed analysis to larger strategy and make data driven decisions is critical.
  • Experience conducting market research, survey analysis, voice of customer, and other foundational marketing and product management activities
  • Exceptional time and project management skills and ability to independently prioritize competing requests
  • Must have demonstrated effective collaboration in matrixed or highly cross-functional business settings.
  • Knowledge of multiomic and multimodal applications is an asset.

Location at San Diego HQ is preferred; will consider alternative locations for exceptional candidates.

The estimated base salary range for the Product Manager, Proteomics role based in the United States of America is: $80,900 - $121,300. Should the level or location of the role change during the hiring process, the applicable base pay range may be updated accordingly. Compensation decisions are dependent on several factors including, but not limited to, an individual’s qualifications, location where the role is to be performed, internal equity, and alignment with market data. Additionally, all employees are eligible for one of our variable cash programs (bonus or commission) and eligible roles may receive equity as part of the compensation package.
