We are looking for highly self-motivated and innovative candidates to join our Assay R&D team. This is a unique opportunity to join a talented team of scientists at the frontiers of innovation in multiomics applications. At Illumina you will work in a dynamic, team-oriented environment and help create novel molecular biology assays that support expansion of Illumina’s multi-omics portfolio. You will also analyze, scrutinize, and present the results of your work to peers and managers. We are looking for a candidate who is a great experimentalist and can innovate in single-cell multiomics in application areas including CRISPR and target enrichment.

Responsibilities

  • Design and execution of lab-based experimentation using biochemistry and molecular biology skills

  • Develop innovative single-cell multiomics assays in application areas including CRISPR and target enrichment

  • Be a strong individual contributor and take part in cross-functional team-driven collaborations

  • Operation of state-of-the-art equipment including Illumina sequencers

  • Generation of innovative ideas that solve challenging problems

  • Effectively communicate experimental results and next steps to team members at regular meetings

  • Maintain detailed records of experimental work and analysis

Requirements

We are looking for candidates who ideally have experience or exposure to the following skills:

  • BSc: Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience

  • MS: Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience

  • PhD: 0-3 years of relevant experience

  • Experience in biotech in an R&D environment is desirable

  • Experience in the field of single cell library prep or evidence of innovation in molecular biology, biochemistry or genomics

  • Must be a creative, detail-oriented person with excellent analytical, verbal and written communications skills

  • Experience in using liquid handling robotics and NGS library preparation (including RNA-Seq) preferred

  • Exceptional collaboration skills and track record of technical achievement

The estimated base salary range for the Senior Scientist - Assay R&D role based in the United States of America is: $88,200 - $132,400. Should the level or location of the role change during the hiring process, the applicable base pay range may be updated accordingly. Compensation decisions are dependent on several factors including, but not limited to, an individual’s qualifications, location where the role is to be performed, internal equity, and alignment with market data. Additionally, all employees are eligible for one of our variable cash programs (bonus or commission) and eligible roles may receive equity as part of the compensation package.
