Illumina Singapore is Illumina’s only manufacturing facility outside of the US, and the Asia Pacific headquarters for numerous business functions. Position Summary
You will be primarily responsible for managing tax compliance matters including but not limited to management of tax queries or audit, and tax incentives. You will support the Tax Manager in managing the relationship with tax authorities and foster seamless collaboration with global/regional Finance and Tax teams, and other business stakeholders to ensure the adherence of tax compliance governance and tax process maintained in the region. In addition, as Illumina continues to grow globally into new and existing markets, you will lead or participate in business expansion initiatives, system enhancement and other strategic projects as assigned.
Tasks and Responsibilities:
Job duties include but not limited to:
- Manage all direct and indirect tax return filings and queries/audits, including performing a wide variety of hands-on compliance work to ensure the completeness and accuracy of the tax returns and queries are filed within internal and external timeline
- Supervise local legislation development & advises on the applicability to the business operation
- Prepare and maintain tax records and other tax related materials in accordance with tax regulation
- Provide professional tax advice to cross-functional teams and implement workable tax efficient solution
- Involve in month-end financial close and statutory audit activities, including the preparation of monthly reconciliation relating to tax accounts, and tax provision/deferred tax calculation to meet close and statutory audit matters relating to tax
- Participate and lead cross-functional projects as requested, including evaluating the tax impact and/or designing the end-to-end work processes, workflow and/or system enhancement to drive the desired tax outcome for reporting
- Main point of contact for internal and external stakeholders on matters related to tax compliance matters for the region. Interact and maintain good liaison relationship with tax authorities and consultant
- Participate in tax projects as and when assigned by the Tax Manager.
Preferred Educational Background:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Accounting/Finance/Taxation.
Preferred Experiential Background:
- Minimum 4-5 year in accounting with direct and indirect tax from Big 4 or Accounting with strong taxation experience. APJ region exposure is a plus
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications especially Microsoft Excel;
- Prior experience in SAP (or equivalent ERP system) is preferred;
- Good organizational skills, highly detailed oriented and ability to work with minimal supervision and independently;
- Ability to work in a dynamic and fast paced environment and a multi-tasker;
- Ability to be flexible and work analytically in a problem-solving environment;
- Excellent communication (written and oral) and interpersonal skills.
