Position Summary

The Senior Manager, AMEA Global Trade Compliance Advisory will be an essential member of Illumina’s Global Trade Compliance Team (GTC). The Senior Manager will be responsible for managing corporate compliance in key trade areas in the AMEA (Asia, Middle East, Africa) region. A wide breadth of knowledge of trade compliance regulations and best practices are important for success in this role. A strong candidate will demonstrate exceptional analytical and communication skills, and the ability to build partnerships across the organization. Position Responsibilities

  • Operate under the general direction and supervision of the Associate Director, Global Trade Compliance.
  • Oversee government trade compliance adherence, audits and enquiries across the AMEA region. Coordinate responses to government inquiries as required.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor internal controls, policies and procedures that manage business risk & compliance, in partnership with cross-functional partners.
  • Represent Illumina’s global trade requirements and interests when participating in cross-functional projects.
  • Educate all regional partners in complying with trade compliance regulations by developing and delivering regional training to key business partners.
  • Manage relationships with local service providers including brokers, freight forwarders and consulting firms.
  • Collaborate with GTC team and cross-functional stakeholders to drive continuous improvement initiatives that increase compliance with global trade regulations.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of global trade policies, regulations, national and international guidelines and industry standards.
  • Work across geographies and functions to develop and implement solutions in support of trade compliance and business expansion
  • Develop and execute local strategies while aligning to broader international goals
  • Collaborate with Global Trade Advisory leads to ensure optimal adherence to global policy and procedure in region.

Position Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree is required. Advanced degree (MA, JD, MBA) is an advantage.
  • 10+ years’ experience in international trade, deep understanding of core trade compliance topics, including country of origin, valuation, and classification.
  • A breadth of knowledge for trade requirements across the AMEA regions.
  • Experience engaging government officials representing trade interests of multinationals.
  • Experience in life science or medical device industry would be advantageous.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, judgement, creativity, flexibility.
  • Experience engaging cross-functionally and collaboratively to develop and implement compliance programs.
  • Detail oriented and highly organized; ability to multi-task several tasks/projects at once.
  • Ability to adapt to rapid change, work with a sense of urgency, and manage time effectively.
