Senior Network Engineer

Overview
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Network Engineer to design, implement, maintain, and troubleshoot our company's network infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of network architecture, protocols, and security, with hands-on experience managing routers, switches, firewalls, Cloud Networking technologies and related network hardware and software. This role is critical in ensuring the stability, scalability, and security of our network systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, design, and deploy local area networks (LANs), wide area networks (WANs), and wireless networks based on business needs.
- Perform regular maintenance and upgrades to ensure the network infrastructure remains reliable and efficient.
- Diagnose and resolve network-related issues, including hardware and software failures, latency, packet loss, and connectivity problems.
- Use network monitoring tools to analyze traffic patterns, detect bottlenecks, and optimize network performance.
- Implement and monitor network security measures, such as firewalls, VPNs, intrusion detection/prevention systems (IDS/IPS), and encryption technologies.
- Maintain up-to-date documentation of network configurations, diagrams, and troubleshooting procedures.
- Work closely with other IT staff, including systems administrators and security engineers, to ensure the seamless integration of network infrastructure with other systems.
- Liaise with external vendors and service providers to procure networking hardware and software and manage service agreements.
- Assess current network usage and plan for future growth, including upgrading network hardware and adjusting bandwidth as needed.
- Ensure the network adheres to organizational, regulatory, and industry standards, including compliance with data privacy laws.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, Communication Engineering, or related field.
- 5+ years of hands-on experience in network engineering, IT infrastructure, or related roles.
- Proficiency in networking protocols (e.g., TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN, BGP, OSPF).
- Experience with network hardware, including routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, and wireless access points.
- Familiarity with network monitoring tools (e.g., ManageEngine, SolarWinds,).
- Understanding of network security principles and practices.
- Proficiency in configuring and managing network equipment from vendors such as Cisco, Arista, Palo Alto.
- Experience with cloud networking (AWS, Azure, etc.)
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills, with the ability to identify root causes and implement effective solutions.
- Experience in designing and managing networks for sites globally.
- Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNP) or equivalent networking certifications.
Preferred Skills and Qualifications
- Experience with advanced routing and switching protocols (e.g., BGP, OSPF).
- Knowledge of VoIP systems and Unified Communications (UC).
- Experience with network automation and scripting (e.g., Python, Ansible).
- Familiarity with SDN (Software-Defined Networking) and NFV (Network Functions Virtualization).
Travel
- The ability to travel domestically and internationally, as required
Physical Demands and Activities Required
- Ability to lift and move networking equipment (up to 25 lbs), occasional on-site network installation, and troubleshooting.
Work Environment
This job operates in a professional workplace or remote office environment and requires standard office equipment and keyboards. Employees who work remotely are expected to maintain their workspace and environment safely and free from safety hazards.
