Overview

Reporting to the Senior Director, International Controller and working closely with the VP, Finance and Corporate Controller, the International Senior Financial Accountant will be responsible for the international accounting of Iovance Biotherapeutics, Inc.’s growing international operations and ensure the preparation and analysis of all financial reports to meet the needs of the organization and comply with all applicable regulations.


Essential Functions and Responsibilities

  • Coordinate monthly and quarterly close processes initially for the European subsidiaries, including day-to-day management of external accounting consultants.
  • Create monthly reporting package and reconciliation, review reconciliations prepared by external accounting consultants, preparing and recording necessary elimination entries, IFRS conversion to US GAAP schedule and related entries, and performing reconciliation of all intercompany balances.
  • Work closely with the Corporate accounting team on global cash and debt management, settlement of inter-company balances, etc.
  • Work closely with the FP&A organization in the preparation of budget and forecast updates, mid-year reviews, etc. as well as ensure that financial results are analysed and explained adequately (i.e., budgeted/forecast to actual variance analysis, unusual fluctuations and one of items, etc.).
  • Maintain procedures related to the revaluation of foreign currency balances, non-USD currency translation, and related adjustment.
  • Ensure that the European subsidiaries are operating within a SOX-compliant control framework.
  • Working with the Company’s VAT consulting partner, assist in gathering necessary backup support documentation for VAT reporting, request VAT invoice revisions and VAT invoice credits as necessary.
  • Ensure that VAT accounts are correct and reconciled with the other relevant data, such as VAT declarations and P&L.
  • Support with the preparation of the local GAAP financial statements and statutory compliance, as well as tax returns and related compliance.
  • Working with ADP Global Payroll Provider, ensure accurate recording to the general ledger, timely payments to employees, required country reporting, and payroll tax filings.
  • Partner with Corporate Finance team on compensation reporting, including stock-based compensation, expense management, and other financial reconciliation efforts.
  • Collaborate with Supply Chain as it pertains to the movement of goods in the manufacturing and sales processes to understand transactional flow and VAT implications.
  • Assist with ad-hoc projects, as required.

Required Education, Skills, and Knowledge

  • BA or BS degree (or equivalent) in finance/accounting required.
  • Approximately 5+ years of experience in international accounting and finance.
  • In-depth knowledge of IFRS, local GAAP or IFRS rules as well as SOX requirements.
  • Experience in public accounting and pharma industry strongly preferred.
  • Experience in international payroll operations and compliance is preferred but not required.
  • Excellent organizational, analytical and communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Experience developing systems and processes.
  • Strong Communication skills and change management mindset.
