Job Description

We are seeking a highly-motivated, experienced individual to join us as Sr. Manager, Site Project Management & Workforce Operations reporting to the Director, Business Strategy & Operations for Kite’s commercial manufacturing site in Frederick, Maryland. This position will play a critical role in leading key projects and workforce operational activities for the site, including initiatives focused on culture and engagement, organizational effectiveness, and change management. The successful candidate will be a dynamic individual with a strong track record of strategic work experience across a variety of settings and in the pharmaceutical or biopharmaceutical industry. The candidate must have the proven ability to effectively manage sophisticated and ambiguous projects, influence stakeholders without authority, effectively network across the Technical Operations organization, and partner with leaders in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leading large-scale site projects and initiatives driving continuous improvement, operational excellence, and enhanced performance and productivity.
  • Overseeing site operational initiatives and activities supporting organizational effectiveness, process improvement, change management, and effective organizational design.
  • In partnership with HR, collecting, presenting, and monitoring key workforce metrics to ensure strong performance, productivity, efficiency, and organizational stability at the site. Coordinating and monitoring follow-up actions with site leadership teams and people councils as applicable.
  • Driving employee engagement and site culture initiatives, including leadership in local people councils and site employee resource group activities. Collaborating with people councils and others on listening sessions regarding trends and feedback to enhance engagement and retention.
  • Supporting leadership and team effectiveness initiatives and activities in partnership with HR, ensuring high-performing teams and effective site management with access to necessary resource materials.
  • Supporting local internal site communication activities to support awareness, engagement, and change management, including communication and education on key policy and process changes.
  • In partnership with Talent Acquisition, coordinating and overseeing logistics related to new hire orientation, site recruitment activities, local recruiting events, and local internship and apprenticeship programs, as well as sourcing activities with procurement for contract workforce (as applicable).
  • Supporting and coordinating logistics related to local rewards, benefits, and recognition programs.
  • Overseeing and coordinating logistics related to local employee training activities, external site visits, and employee events (i.e., lunch and learns).
  • Supporting cross-functional teams related to key site operations, including business continuity, crisis management, and EHS, as needed and applicable.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Doctorate and 2+ years of Project Management experience OR
  • Master’s and 6+ years of Project Management experience OR
  • Bachelor’s and 8+ years of Project Management experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Exposure to and experience with manufacturing and site operations in the Pharmaceutical and Biotechnology industry is highly desirable.
  • Education or professional certification in project management, change management and/or communications.
  • Highly resourceful and strategic thinker with strong emotional intelligence, operational rigor, and project management capabilities
  • Strong leadership and communication skills across functions and leadership teams. Comfort in business and technical discussions.
  • Experience driving large initiatives is required, including framing the problem and conducting research / analysis to build and drive the business and operational plans through successful execution
  • Self-starter who thrives in a forward-thinking, collaborative, and innovative high-growth environment
  • Experience with and passion for supporting key workforce operational activities, including employee engagement and culture initiatives.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving and technology skills, including proficiency in project planning instruments, content management instruments, and Microsoft Office Suite – thorough Excel, spreadsheet acumen
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to review and update processes or procedures.
  • Experience in strategic planning
  • Must be able to work on multiple assignments simultaneously and demonstrate organizational, prioritization, and time management proficiencies.

The salary range for this position is: $150,535.00 - $194,810.00. Kite considers a variety of factors when determining base compensation, including experience, qualifications, and geographic location. These considerations mean actual compensation will vary. This position may also be eligible for a discretionary annual bonus, discretionary stock-based long-term incentives (eligibility may vary based on role), paid time off, and a benefits package. Benefits include company-sponsored medical, dental, vision, and life insurance plans*.
