Job Description

LGC Standards boasts a portfolio of more than 200,000 Specialty Chemicals, Analytical Standards and Reference Material products manufactured in Canada, USA, Germany, and the UK. This is an exciting opportunity for a visionary and strategic leader, a commercially-savvy and customer-focused individual to develop, lead and execute a portfolio strategy for the Research Chemicals and Analytical Standards portfolio and deliver ambitious revenue growth.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create and evangelize a compelling vision and implement a multi-year roadmap to achieve strategic outcomes for all product areas by evolving existing products or creating new market opportunities and deliver ambitious growth.
  • Define and build the value proposition for the Toronto Research Chemicals portfolio and work with Growth Marketing to embed it in effective marketing growth plans.
  • Represent a strong understanding of the competitive landscape, key drivers, issues and players in the market.
  • Define and execute product launch plans including product positioning and sales enablement.
  • Build a pipeline of innovative products that brings sustained growth to the portfolio and reflects market trends to maintain a competitive advantage.
  • Collaborate heavily with leadership cross functionally to evaluate, prioritize, and execute on the most promising new opportunities, as well as maintaining and improving existing products.
  • Utilize customer feedback, data analytics, and market intelligence to make informed decisions that enhance product offerings.
  • Influence and collaborate with Segment Marketing, Sales, and Legal to build Inorganic pipeline, comprising acquisition targets, OEM and license deals.
  • Formulate pricing strategy in collaboration with the Pricing Team to maximize profits and market share.
  • Strategize in collaboration with Supply Chain to ensure competitive lead times.
  • Prepare global sales revenue forecasts and work with Demand Planners and the TRC Operations team to develop a Sales & Operations Planning process.
  • Provide visionary leadership, and mentorship to the team of Analytical Standards Product Managers, fostering a high-performing culture of collaboration, innovation and excellence.
  • Establish and monitor key performance indicators to measure the success and impact of the team’s efforts and course correct across product and other business functions where necessary.

Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree in science-based discipline, preferably chemistry; MBA is a strong asset.
  • 10+ years’ experience in Product Management, Marketing or Sales, ideally in the Life Sciences tools or Analytical Chemistry industry.
  • Exhibits strong, collaborative leadership style, with a track record of driving results with buy-in within matrixed organizations. Experience in value proposition development, product research, product launches and executing successful marketing strategy and demonstrates expertise in being commercial minded.
  • Experience building and coaching excellent teams in product management and marketing, with effective change management experience. Strong experience leading people with significant cross-functional influence for at least 6+ years.
  • Is agile, with analytical and strategic thinking skills and a strong track record of translating market insights into actionable product roadmaps, balancing customer need, and market value in product decision-making.
  • Demonstrates as being strongly commercially inclined with excellent interpersonal and communication skills to effectively communicate strategic plans. Champions cross functionality with the ability to influence senior stakeholders internally and externally.
  • Able to motivate, problem solve, deal with ambiguity, and effectively prioritize business needs.
