Job Description

Reporting to the VP Finance Axolabs business unit, this highly visible role at the centre of the Axolabs business unit spearheads the Axolabs business controls function across all of Axolabs global sites, working in close alignment with the Axolabs and Group finance teams.

The scope of this role is global and includes control processes across our manufacturing and BD/sales entities (Berlin, Kulmbach and Petaluma, CA). The successful candidate will be able to work “hands on” at times, but also identify and execute strategically important new financial process implementations to allow the business to further scale and deliver on its growth agenda. The role operates in an evolving landscape of systems architecture, requiring a focus on process improvement, change management and and business development.

Axolabs specialises in the research, development, analysis and production of oligonucleotide- and RNA-based therapeutics. With over 20 years of experience and facilities in Germany and the US, we provide comprehensive services starting from lead identification through clinical trials to commercialisation. As a trusted CDMO partner, we deliver tailored, high-quality solutions, ensuring the efficient advancement of cutting-edge nucleic acid therapies efficiently from early discovery to market. The business has recently invested in a major site expansion in Berlin building a state of the art CMO facility to participate in key customer growth opportunities.

The role will be responsible for

  • Business and financial controls, global planning, forecasting, budgeting processes and their harmonisation (including owning and managing the relationship with our internal stakeholders and functional teams)
  • Owning the Capital Budgeting and forecasting process (including investment appraisal process improvement and post investment review discipline) as well as managing new project business cases
  • Drive the business control integration agenda aligned to technology and system landscape changes, instilling a change and continuous improvement mindset across organisation
  • Provide business partnering to the technical operations function (including supporting manufacturing sites on productivity projects and aligning group procurement initiatives to drive purchase price savings)
  • Act as lead in the SIOP (Sales, inventory and operations planning function)
  • Working closely with the BD teams to review pricing and benchmarking vs. other competitors and leading position in projects (e.g. ERP upgrades & migration projects)

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of finance & controlling experience demonstrating a record of increasing responsibility within the finance function of a multinational, multi-site organisation
  • Good user knowledge of ERP systems and processes and initial M&A experience
  • Experience implementing and using Financial Planning and visualisation applications (Hyperion, OneStream, Adaptive Planning)
  • Experience collaborating with Global Process and Business Owners and driving continuous improved performance
  • Excellent commercial and project experience, with an ability to drive projects forward against milestones
  • German language proficiency at C1 level is essential, along with fluency in English; must be comfortable presenting to CEO, CFO, and board executives
