Job Description

Package and ship products, samples and other miscellaneous items in accordance with DOT/IATA regulations, receive and distribute incoming goods.

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each of the following essential functions satisfactorily.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Prepare shipments by determining appropriate type of boxes, packaging material and documentation as required by DOT/IATA.
  • Receive incoming packages, inspect goods and deliver to requisitioner.
  • Work with various carriers on shipping issues (late deliveries, missing/damaged shipments etc.). Execute and follow up on claims with carriers as required.
  • Handle Customer Service requests for domestic and international quotations.
  • Check inventory of shipping supplies and reorder when necessary.
  • Pull and stage customer orders for shipments.
  • Perform cycle counts.
  • Fill material requisition demands.
  • Follow standard operating procedures.
  • Keep area safe, clean, and organized.
  • Follow all company safety policies and procedures, and immediately report any and all accidents to a manager or supervisor.

Qualifications

Education/Experience/Licenses/Certifications

Essential

  • High School Diploma or general education degree (GED); or related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Basic computer/software skills
  • Obtain DOT and IATA Certifications, classes provided by LGC.

Preferred

  • Hazardous materials shipping experience

Competencies & Behaviours

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate orally or in written form effectively with co-workers and other departments.

Physical Requirements

  • occasionally lifting ~50 pounds
  • use of a pallet jack or drum dolly to move heavier loads.
  • frequent bending, stooping, squatting, pushing, and pulling of parts and part containers
  • repetitive motion due to use of computer
