Job Description

The Diagnostic Oligo Production Tech I/II-Synthesis will perform tasks associated with the synthesis of RUO and diagnostic-grade oligonucleotides in a fast-paced, high-throughput manufacturing environment. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to satisfactorily perform each of the following essential functions.

  • Operate OligoPilot, MerMade, H-8, Expedite, and in-house built DNA synthesis platforms to manufacture custom RUO oligonucleotides under ISO 9001 and diagnostic oligonucleotides under ISO 13485 quality management systems.
  • Perform root cause analysis on recurring manufacturing issues and execute actionable tasks on potential CAPAs.
  • Write and carry out DNR action plans in accordance with established procedures.
  • Utilize LC-MS and spectrophotometer instruments.
  • Assist in training new employees as directed by department leadership.
  • Assist in writing and reviewing synthesis work instructions and supporting documents.
  • Assist in complex manufacturing projects.
  • Conscientiously learn the requirements of the ISO 13485 and ISO 9001 quality management systems and diligently follow the terms of a quality contract, which describes the relevance and importance of the employee’s work to the achievement of LGC’s quality objectives.
  • Review and revise manufacturing procedures and documentation used in manufacturing labs.
  • Maintain instrumentation and lab equipment through regular maintenance and calibration.
  • Adhere to company Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) policy.
  • Safely work with hazardous chemicals, including Hydrofluoric Acid, in a controlled environment while following company safety protocols.
  • Initiate Change Controls with the guidance of a supervisor, manager, director, or quality representative.
  • Perform all other assigned job functions outlined in work instructions provided by the supervisor/manager.

This will be a 4x10 hour shift Monday through Thursday or Tuesday through Friday 1:00pm-11:30PM. This shift includes a 10% shift differential.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, biology, or a similar discipline with organic chemistry experience.
  • 0-4 years of relevant experience in a lab setting and experience is based on going either to a Tech I or Tech II level role.
  • Pipette use, chemical handling, technical proficiency that enables effective execution of documented procedures.
  • DNA/RNA/LNA Synthesis experience, extensive chemical knowledge, LC-MS data analysis is preferred.
  • Experience with DNA synthesizers, HPLC/UHPLC, LC-MS/TOF is preferred.
  • Experience with Lean Six Sigma is preferred.

The typical pay range for this role Lab Tech I or Tech II is:

Minimum: $ 23.00/Hourly

Maximum: $ $36.46/Hourly

This range represents the low and high end of the anticipated salary range for the California -based position. The actual base salary will depend on several factors such as: experience, skills, and location.
