POSITION SUMMARY:
In this critical role, the Senior R&D Scientist plans, organizes and conducts scientific research studies and experiments to develop new procedures, products and technologies.
May serve as a team member on different projects and investigations within their programs, and act as a technical scientific consultant on a specific phase of a more complex study.
The job holder for this position will have a concentration in molecular biology and high throughput genomics applications, including NGS, ddPCR, real-time qPCR, sequencing and other molecular biology assays.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
• This individual will be responsible for the establishment and implementation of new protocols/assays. Actively learns new technology and applies appropriate methods for the new applications.
• The job will entail consultation, execution, and analysis of a variety of technologies in the genomics and genetics arena.
• The Sr. scientist will be working independently to perform different molecular techniques and lead junior lab specialists in certain projects. This includes providing scientific and technical support to help troubleshoot and solve scientific challenges.
• Develop standard operating procedures and protocols that cover genomic and proteomic applications. Perform bench work at an expert level and interpret and prepare data reports.
• Implement quality control processes throughout various workflows and manage projects to achieve accurate results. Operate and maintain sophisticated biotechnology and laboratory equipment in a decent work order.
• Supports senior manager in managing and overseeing the projects and lab-work performed by other junior technicians and team members.
• Provides technical expertise within the analytical development team to review analytical data and contribute to method development and product characterization.
• May contribute to authoring and/or reviewing method development reports, SOPs, validation protocols/reports, comparability protocols and reports, justification of specifications.
• Builds the scientific knowledge, capabilities, and strategies in the product characterization that enable fast to clinic/fast to market product development and commercialization.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
• PhD in Molecular and Cell biology, Biochemistry or related Life Sciences field with minimum 4 years relevant post-PhD experience, OR a master’s degree in these same disciplines and a minimum of 10 years of relevant experiences in R&D of Genomics and Genetics fields, etc.
• Detailed working experience of molecular biology reagents and instrumentation is required.
• Must have a working knowledge of genomics applications, including NGS, PCR, ddPCR, real-time qPCR, high throughput SNP genotyping, microarrays, sequencing, and/or other molecular biology assays.
• Hands-on/applied experience with automations.
• Must have industry commercial experience.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills required, both with internal team members and external clients
• Must have the ability to multi-task projects and judiciously evaluate priorities and to consistently meet ambitious deadlines.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively, as required, in a fast-paced, matrixed, team environment consisting of internal and external team members.
• Analytical thinker with excellent problem-solving. Excellent planning, organization and time management skills including the ability to support and prioritize multiple projects at various stages of development.
