Overview

The Assay Development Team at Exagen, Inc., extensively spans across the organization, engaging in projects that involve collaboration and work with members of diverse project teams. The successful candidate will work in a fast-paced environment and will work closely with the Bioinformatics, Laboratory and Quality Teams. As Associate Scientist/Scientist, you will be responsible for assay development and validation of assays to be used in flow cytometry applications. Along with other team members, you will participate in planning and executing experiments, critically analyzing data, and interpreting results in a CLIA regulated laboratory environment.
Responsibilities
Note: Other duties may be assigned.
- Develop and validate multi-color flow cytometry assays for monitoring immune cells
- Designing, performing, and analyzing flow cytometry experiments
- Independently analyze research data, solve problems with appropriate guidance and effectively plan follow up experiments.
- Responsible for the execution of wet-lab experiments with varying complexity using multi-color flow cytometry.
- Routine, accurate and timely completion of all assigned experimental tests. Will be expected to efficiently prioritize individual workload.
- Analyze data using FCS Express or FlowJo software, report test results including completion of all required documentation and database entries.
- Expected to develop skills and exercise judgment in troubleshooting assays under supervision and in recommending appropriate corrective actions.
Qualifications
Knowledge and Skills
- 2-4 years of experience developing multi-color flow cytometry assays
- Hands on experience working directly with multi-color flow assays on various cytometers such as FACS Lyric, Canto, LSR Fortessa, etc.
- Experience in data analysis with FlowJo, FCS Express, or other flow cytometry data analysis software
- Able to work in a team environment to achieve organizational goals.
- Possess effective written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to follow established policies and procedures.
- Ability to keep neat, accurate, and complete records.
Education and Experience
- Requires a Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in immunology, cell biology, or related scientific discipline and a minimum of 2-4 years of flow cytometry assay development experience.
- Assay development experience in CLIA, CAP or NY-state regulated environment preferred
Salary range: $85,000 - $115,000
