Director, Global Commercial Pharma Pipeline Analytics, HHDDA

Our Human Health Digital Data and Analytics (HHDDA) team is innovating how we understand our patients and their needs. Working cross functionally we are inventing new ways of engaging, interacting with our customers and patients leveraging digital, data and analytics in measuring the impact. The Director, Global Commercial Pharma Pipeline Analytics, HHDDA will be responsible for developing and delivering data and analytics, generating strategic integrated insights, and proactively addressing US new product team’s business questions to inform pharma pipeline investments, launch readiness and create synergies with the book of work for global brand leads. Furthermore, the leader will partner closely with US new products, global marketing, regional marketing, clinical and discovery, finance & enterprise strategy teams to inform executive decision making through analytics support for clinical development and impactful go-to-market strategies.

The leader will help establish a set of analytics capabilities anchored to our early commercial marketing framework to shape franchise strategy and proactively “connect the dots” across HHDDA cross functional teams. This leader will also be responsible to make concrete recommendations and communicate on-going risk/benefit against standardized commercial metrics. Reporting to the ED of Global Commercial Pipeline Analytics within HHDDA, this role will lead development of analytics capabilities for the pharma pipeline in the assigned therapeutic areas, which may include infectious diseases, neurosciences, cardiovascular and/or ophthalmology disease areas.

The successful leader will partner closely across HHDDA capability functions such market research, forecasting, payer insights & analytics, data strategy, data solutions, product owners for scaled analytical capabilities and engage vendor partners to develop accelerators. This role will require interfacing and collaborating with multiple teams which may not share the same reporting line. The candidate needs to have demonstrated consistent leadership skills and have led cross functional teams in their prior roles, demonstrated the ability to create a strong sense of team culture and embody a culture of continuous learning. Effective communication skills are essential to be successful.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Commercial Analytics: Develop commercial insights solutions – market understanding, patient journey, physician segmentation, market mapping, patient funnel validations & analogue benchmarking to support decision making for the pharma pipeline and business development, utilizing deep data driven secondary data analytics for US market

  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Be a thought leader and strategic partner for commercial teams and senior marketing leaders. Engage, influence and, if needed, challenge commercial partners as an equal partner. Establish and manage close relationships with partners and stakeholders within HHDDA, marketing, business operations, medical, finance & IT

  • Communication and Transparency: Communicate & collaborate effectively with cross functional teams with competencies in market research, forecasting, commercial analytics, data science, customer engagement, data strategy, population health, competitive insights, marketing operations, medical & clinical backgrounds.

  • Workload Prioritization and Management: Articulate how the work done till date, ties to business priorities, identify unmet needs and gaps that needs to be addressed. Develop a plan to address the additional needs and/or gaps to enable brand and commercial strategy by working with the functional leaders across the Human Health Digital, Data and Analytics (HHDDA) organization. Understand the full book of work underway and planned to support a disease area or business unit. Work with cross functional teams to articulate the value or impact of each piece of work. Create a process to better articulate the ‘so what’ and ‘now what’ and track realized business value. Work with marketing leadership to prioritize the work that needs to be done considering the capacity availability within HHDDA.

  • Travel may be required (<35%)

Required Experience and Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree, preferably in a scientific, engineering, or business-related field.

  • 7+ years of experience in business insights, outcomes research, advanced analytics, asset portfolio management, strategic planning, insights syndication or related roles within the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry

  • 2+ years direct people management experience with responsibility for performance management, talent development and coaching

  • Strategic thinker who can be consultative and “engage as equals.”

  • Strong communication skills with an ability to break down complex, ambiguous business problems to solvable chunks

  • Strong knowledge of financial planning and portfolio analytics with a focus on specialty therapeutic areas

  • Deep understanding of Real-world data assets and commercial pharma data ecosystem

  • Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively communicate complex concepts to both internal and external stakeholders.

  • Experience in working in large multi-national corporations with geographically distributed teams and matrix reporting lines

  • Relationship-building and influencing skills with an ability to collaborate cross-functionally

Preferred Experience and Skills:

• Experience in healthcare data, insights and analytics

  • Experience in Life Science or consulting industry

  • Advanced degree (e.g., MBA, PharmD, PhD) preferred.

  • Therapeutic area experience in infectious diseases (HIV) AND/OR neurosciences AND/OR ophthalmology AND/OR cardiovascular & metabolic diseases preferred.

  • US patient data such as claims, EMR, SP/SD etc.

U.S. Hybrid Work Model

Final determinations with respect to salary will take into account a number of factors, which may include, but not be limited to the primary work location and the chosen candidate’s relevant skills, experience, and education.

Expected US salary range:

$187,000.00 - $294,400.00
