The Role

This is a summer internship opportunity in Cambridge, MA from June 2, 2025 – August 15, 2025. Applicants must be available for the entire duration of the internship. Start date will be June 2, 2025.

The Financial Planning & Analysis organization at Moderna is looking for top talent in finance & accounting to join our corporate functions FP&A team. Summer Interns will have an opportunity be a part of a fast paced and collaborative finance team and will be exposed to our monthly close & reporting process and our Q2 quarterly reforecast. During this critical time for the finance organization, you will have an opportunity to have an impact on the planning process for our corporate functions which include Digital, HR, Legal, Finance, and Brand. We are excited to bring in an individual who is willing to roll their sleeves up, dig into the detail, and exited to learn about FP&A within the biotech industry.

Here’s What You’ll Do

  • Partner with accounting/FP&A Sr. Manager to assist with our monthly expense accrual process
  • Develop functional knowledge of SAP and Oracle EPM which are commonly used planning tools across industries
  • Build forecast reports in Oracle EPM that will show forecast comparison to budget
  • Contribute to forecast template creation and collection of input from functional business partners. Help with the story telling around assumption changes compared to budget
  • Present forecast to budget variance analysis to functional leadership
  • Meet with our broader FP&A team members to learn about their roles supporting different functions within Moderna.
  • Lead in building a common FP&A headcount reporting process that the global FP&A team can leverage
  • Help with ad-hoc financial analysis as part of FP&A’s normal day-to-day operations


Here’s What You’ll Need (Minimum Qualifications)

  • Current student enrolled in a bachelor’s program in finance or accounting
  • Strong knowledge of basic accounting principles, including accrual-based accounting
  • Experience working with Microsoft suite of products (Excel, PowerPoint)


Here’s What You’ll Bring to the Table (Preferred Qualifications)

  • GPA of 3.5 on a 4 scale or equivalent
  • Demonstrated ability to work both independently as well as the ability to contribute to high performing teams.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
