As Moderna continues to grow as an organization, we are expanding our world-class, international Global Business Services center based in Warsaw, Poland—Moderna Enterprise Solutions Hub (MESH). The Senior Associate, Direct Tax will report to the Direct Tax Senior Manager and oversee all aspects of direct tax services within MESH. This role ensures the accuracy and compliance of direct tax reporting for the jurisdictions MESH supports, focusing on APAC and Canada regions.

Here's What You’ll Do
Your key responsibilities will be:
- Supporting corporate tax compliance, including income and non-income base taxes, and managing tax incentives for the APAC and Canada regions, ensuring timely and accurate submission of direct tax returns in collaboration with external tax advisors.
- Preparing US GAAP tax reporting, including tax provisions, return-to-provision adjustments, and account reconciliations while pursuing excellence.
- Supporting the tax payment process by prioritizing digitization to enhance efficiency.
- Monitoring changes in tax legislation and providing timely updates to stakeholders, pivoting fearlessly in response to new data.
- Partnering with the accounting team to prepare statutory financial statements for the APAC and Canada regions with a focus on ownership and precision.
- Managing tax controversies through correspondence and resolving processes swiftly.
- Driving process improvement and standardization, prioritizing the platform over individual products for broader organizational impact.
- Participating actively in ad hoc tax projects, demonstrating the ability to explore options in parallel to deliver optimal outcomes.
Your Responsibilities Will Also Include
- Collaborating with the International Indirect Tax team, Global Tax, R2R, and MESH leadership to ensure alignment and shared success.
- Partnering with commercial and functional teams to understand business processes and provide actionable insights.
- Taking ownership of additional duties as assigned, showing flexibility and a proactive mindset to support Moderna’s mission.

Here’s What You’ll Need (Minimum Qualifications)
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or related discipline required.
- 4+ years of related experience in direct taxes is required; public accounting and/or shared service center experience, a plus
- Strong tax technical skills including expertise in Corporate Income Tax and other direct taxes
Here’s What You’ll Bring to the Table (Preferred Qualifications)
- Experience with financial systems including SAP, Blackline and Microsoft Office products
- Strong work ethic, self-motivated, willing to “Roll-up your sleeves” to drive and deliver results, meet deadlines and improve processes
- Strong analytical skills and pays attention to detail
- Strong organizational, interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work collaboratively across functional teams.
- Commitment to continuous learning and personal development, with the ability to adapt in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
- Excellent English skills, both written and verbal. Additional language, a plus
