As a Medical Affairs Intern, you will gain hands-on experience in a cutting-edge biotech environment, working closely with our Canadian Medical Affairs team to support initiatives that drive Moderna’s mission of delivering transformative mRNA medicines. This role provides an unparalleled opportunity to gain exposure to Medical Affairs operations, strategic healthcare engagement, and digital innovation, while actively contributing to impactful global health initiatives.

This internship is expected to be 8-12 months in duration (40 hours/week), starting in April-May 2025. It will be based in Moderna’s Toronto office, with a requirement to work at least 70% in-office.

Here’s What You’ll Do:

Your Key Responsibilities Will Be:

  • Support the Medical Affairs team’s operational activities, including coordinating meetings, tracking progress on tasks, and contributing to strategic initiatives with key healthcare stakeholders.

  • Collect and analyze medical intelligence to identify unmet medical needs, refine strategies, and contribute to better patient outcomes.

  • Assist in the preparation of dossiers for healthcare recommendation bodies, transforming complex scientific data into compelling, decision-informing formats.

  • Update and develop key materials that support discussions around Moderna’s mRNA platform and clinical data within the Canadian healthcare ecosystem.

  • Contribute to internal initiatives that educate cross-functional teams on critical scientific developments and key updates.

Your Responsibilities Will Also Include:

  • Supporting the execution of digital initiatives, including Moderna’s ATLAS website and applying generative AI tools to enhance engagement and streamline processes.

  • Demonstrating a “Digital First” mindset, leveraging technological advancements to drive efficiency in Medical Affairs functions.

  • Attending relevant meetings and actively engaging in discussions to gain insights into the role of Medical Affairs professionals in a leading biotech company.

Here’s What You’ll Need (Basic Qualifications):

  • Current enrollment in a Master’s program or a relevant graduate certificate program in biotechnology, life sciences, pharmacy, public health, or a related field.

Here’s What You’ll Bring to the Table (Preferred Qualifications):

  • Strong organizational, project management, and time management skills with the ability apply keen attention to detail to effective management of several projects simultaneously

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, fluency in French a plus

  • Proven ability to creatively solve problems

  • A proactive approach and willingness to learn in a fast-paced environment.

  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and digital collaboration tools. Experience leveraging generative AI tools a plus.

  • Experience with or coursework in scientific writing, literature reviews, or healthcare communication is an asset.
