Moderna is solidifying its presence in Taipei, a dynamic center of biotech innovation in Asia. As part of our Asia-Pacific expansion, our Taipei-based roles support regional medical and commercial efforts across several key markets. In this pivotal regional role, you will join Moderna’s Medical Affairs organization as Medical Director, supporting the scientific and medical strategy across the Asia-Pacific region. This is a strategic and executional role that sits at the intersection of science, cross-functional alignment, and external engagement. Based in Taipei, Taiwan, and embedded within a matrixed and fast-paced environment, you will collaborate closely with Country Medical Directors across Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, Singapore, and Hong Kong.
You will contribute to the shaping of Moderna’s regional medical plans, support knowledge sharing and insight generation, and drive alignment between global strategic objectives and local market execution. Through direct collaboration with Clinical Development, Regulatory Affairs, Market Access, and Commercial teams, you will help define scientific tactics that ensure consistency of message and impact across the Asia-Pacific region.
This role can be based in Taiwan, Singapore, or South Korea.
Here’s What You’ll Do:
Your key responsibilities will be:
Serve as the regional medical lead and scientific point of integration across Asia-Pacific, aligning cross-functional efforts and stakeholder input.
Contribute scientific expertise to the execution of Medical Affairs plans and ensure consistency across local and global strategies.
Support the synthesis of medical insights from regional markets to inform global planning and prioritization.
Build and nurture a network of key scientific leaders across the region, with a focus on vaccines and public health needs.
Shape and lead external stakeholder engagements including scientific advisory boards, regional KOL interactions, and medical education initiatives.
Your responsibilities will also include:
Participate in health economics and outcomes research in partnership with cross-functional teams including Real-World Evidence, Market Access, and Commercial.
Support compliant execution of medical programs including compassionate use, pre-licensure access, and investigator-initiated research.
Manage select components of the operating and lifecycle management budgets for regional medical activities.
Align regional efforts with global strategic direction while ensuring compliance with all regulatory, legal, and corporate standards.
Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, contributing regional insights to global decision-making frameworks.

Here’s What You’ll Bring to the Table
Minimum Qualifications:
M.D. or Ph.D. from a recognized academic institution.
Minimum of 8 years of experience in the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry, including Clinical Development and/or Medical Affairs.
Demonstrated ability to lead scientific strategy and cross-functional initiatives in a matrix environment.
Experience working across multiple countries or regions in Asia-Pacific.
Strong understanding of Medical Affairs compliance requirements and regulatory landscape.
Excellent oral and written communication skills in English.
Willingness to travel regionally as needed.
Preferred Qualifications:
Industry experience in vaccines or infectious diseases.
Demonstrated success in engaging key external stakeholders such as KOLs, payers, public health agencies, or regulatory authorities.
Experience contributing to medical launch readiness and lifecycle management planning.
Prior leadership of small teams or mentorship of junior staff.
Familiarity with health economics, real-world data generation, and evidence dissemination strategies.
Cultural fluency and ability to navigate healthcare systems across Asia-Pacific markets.
