The Scientist II position is primarily a bench level R&D job focusing on real time PCR and RT-PCR assay and product development in an FDA-QSR and ISO9001 compliant organization.

This position is part of Assay R&D and will be located in Sunnyvale, CA (Onsite). At Cepheid, our vision is to be the leading provider of seamlessly connected diagnostic solutions.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

• Maintaining detailed experimental records and present data at technical meetings
• Positively Impact a range of internal and external customers, and other related teams.
• Demonstrate conceptual and practical expertise in infectious disease field and basic knowledge of related disciplines
• Effectively manage experiments with shifting priorities and meet due dates

The essential requirements of the job include:

• Design and develop the unique PCR based viral IVD product
• Implement verification and validation SOPs and write technical reports
• Performing rigorous analytical studies required to demonstrate technical feasibility and design verification studies
• Handling clinical samples and assist in microbiology work on BSL-1 and BSL2 organisms if needed
• Bachelor’s degree in Molecular biology/Microbiology/Bioinformatics or related field with 2+ years of related work experience OR Master’s degree in Molecular biology/Microbiology/Bioinformatics or related field with 1+ years of related work experience.

It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:

• GeneXpert platform
• IVD assay development
• Handling human clinical specimens and performing aseptic microbiology work

The salary range for this role is $81,000 - 111,000. This is the range that we in good faith believe is the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range. This range may be modified in the future.

This job is also eligible for bonus/incentive pay.
