Postdoctoral Fellowship - Applied Molecular Biology Division
New England Biolabs
We are seeking a talented, highly motivated researcher to join the Applied Molecular Biology Division at New England Biolabs (NEB) as a postdoctoral fellow. The successful candidate will primarily focus on biochemical and structural characterizations of DNA deaminases as well as enzyme engineering to improve the enzyme characteristics and applications.
Express and purify DNA deaminases and determine their substrate specificity.
Collaborate with external labs to investigate the structures of DNA deaminases with bound substrates and elucidate the substrate specificity mechanisms of DNA deaminases.
Engineer DNA deaminases to improve their substrate selectivity or change their substrate specificity through rational design or high throughput engineering.
Apply DNA deaminases in next-generation sequencing (NGS) to detect epigenetic modifications.
Explore DNA deaminases in base-editing applications.
Effectively communicate the discoveries to the scientific community through presentations and peer-reviewed publications.
Required Qualifications and Experience:
Ph.D. in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Chemical Biology, or related field.
Advanced skill level in molecular biology and protein biochemistry techniques.
Strong multitasking ability.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Proven ability to work independently and in collaborative team environments.
Preferred Qualifications and Experience:
Hands-on experience with protein expression, purification (IMAC, IEX, SEC), and biochemical or biophysical characterizations.
Experience with structural biology (x-ray crystallography or structural modeling).
Experience with protein engineering.
Experience with next-generation sequencing (NGS) and epigenetic modification detection is a plus.
This position offers exciting opportunities for research training in an industrial setting, collaboration with academic institutions, publishing in peer-reviewed journals, and participation in meetings and conferences.
