About the Role
The purpose of this role is to lead parenteral primary packaging development activities within an interdisciplinary project team. Responsibility includes sterile syringe- and cartridge-based drug-device Combination Products. The Global Device and Packaging Technology group in Novartis develops medical devices and packaging for chemical, biologic, cell & gene and radioligand therapy products. One main focus of this newly generated position is on new syringe systems for i.v. administration of radioligand therapies.

About the Role

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead packaging development activities with the project team members for assigned projects.
  • Maintain knowledge in the areas of materials and manufacturing and support project specific 3rd party management. Conduct feasibility assessments on new technology/ packaging concepts and manage suppliers respectively.
  • Develop early and late phase packaging prototypes using rapid prototyping, machined and/or soft tooling.
  • Conduct design for manufacture assessments and tolerance stack analyses.
  • Establish standard operating & work procedures, document templates and general guidance for packaging technology development.
  • Support development activities including but not limited to technology landscaping and change control.
  • Disseminate knowledge and awareness of packaging technology within the wider organization and contribute to publications, presentations, and patents. Support the definition of packaging technology strategy and roadmap.

Essential Requirements:

  • Degree qualified in engineering, material sciences, pharmaceutical technology or similar.
  • 3+ years proven experience in a similar field (medical device development, sterile primary packaging).
  • Support internal & external technical audits on packaging and medical devices related matters.
  • Drive preparation of the function related documents (sections) for registration of medical device/ combination products and provide feedback to health authority questions.
  • Proficiency in English
