Rare Disease Commercial Effectiveness Manager

PURPOSE

Supports all aspects of business case development, market assessment, forecasting, and analysis for the relevant Rare Disease therapeutic markets. The role also provides regular and ad-hoc sales updates and detailed analysis of sales results. The incumbent works collaboratively with cross-functional team members including Marketing, Patient Access, Product Supply, Key Accounts, and Medical. They interact with external stakeholders regarding data, product distribution, and inventory.

KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY

Business Analytics & Sales Force Effectiveness

  • Design and oversee the implementation of performance metrics, key performance indicators (KPIs), and dashboards to track and evaluate the effectiveness of commercial initiatives, ensuring alignment with broader business objectives.
  • Lead the process of analyzing data and creating reports, dashboards, and presentations to facilitate well-informed decision-making.
  • Provide forecasting, performance results, and analytics support to the VP and Rare Disease leadership team, and regularly deliver presentations on outcomes to senior leadership and other stakeholders.
  • Responsible for the preparation of the pre-read and presentations of Rare Disease business planning processes (AB/RE, LTF, and others).
  • Collect and manage competitive intelligence from a variety of sources and incorporate the intel into relevant business reports, business cases, updates, and forecasts.
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including sales, marketing, market access, and medical affairs, to optimize commercial strategies with overall brand objectives.
  • Participate as an active member of the Rare Disease Business Team by attending meetings and providing input to support team objectives and discuss key drivers/influences to drive commercial strategies.
  • Establish and manage business relationships with internal and external stakeholders including vendors/consultants to advance organizational goals.
  • Work with Rare Disease RBD wholesalers to manage in-market performance inquiries, ordering, and inventory levels, including year-end management.
  • Partner with senior leadership to develop, recommend, and measure national and regional Key Account bonus plans and manage the approvals process.
  • Assess sales territory alignment, i.e., targeting customers, analyzing call plans, determining field force alignment/deployment solutions, and designing business planning tools to support the key account process.
  • Take initiative to identify opportunities to improve results/promote business growth and propose solutions that increase efficiencies in the delivery of Key Account & Marketing interactions.

Key Accounts and Marketing Support

  • Provide support to Key Accounts and Marketing functions by reviewing/analyzing/evaluating programs, analyzing/recommending deployment strategies, monitoring/reporting on key account activities, identifying problems/implementing solutions, and communicating information from head office to field staff to ensure availability of key information to decision-makers.
  • Design and administer the Key Accounts Incentive Compensation Plan for Rare Disease by attending meetings, preparing draft plans for review, executing approved plans, and tracking performance to ensure appropriate rewards for the Rare Disease Business Unit.

Presentations

  • Build and present sales & performance summaries to all levels of the organization (i.e., Key Accounts, Marketing, senior leaders, cross-functional teammates, etc.).
  • Break down complex data analysis into understandable tangible reports. Present analysis and articulate findings. Facilitate discussion on trends or observations. Educate/train team members on market trends, answer questions regarding analysis, and gather feedback for presentation/analysis revisions.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education - Minimum Requirements

  • University degree (Business or Science).
  • Professional accounting designation would be an asset (e.g., MBA, CPA, etc.).

Work Experience - Minimum Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years’ related experience in pharmaceutical sales, finance, marketing, and/or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to use statistical model-based approaches and related software.
  • Advanced computer skills (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Outlook, Power BI) and the ability to learn new tools for forecasting and analysis.

  • Excellent data manipulation and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally.
  • Data visualization competencies – Communicating issues and opportunities through presentations.
  • Project management experience.
  • Strong market research abilities.
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written).
  • Good organizational skills.
