In Research & Early Development (R&ED), we explore scientific ideas and innovations to defeat serious chronic disease. We develop scientific ideas into novel molecules and bring them to first human testing with the goal to treat, modify, prevent and even cure serious chronic disease. We have recently established a centralised Communication function in R&ED with the goal to foster agility as well as overall efficiency and effectiveness of communication initiatives, in line with evolving business priorities.

The position

As Associate Director of Communication Partnering in the R&ED EVP area, you will lead the newly established Communication Partnering team and prioritise support based on business needs and strategic goals. You will set the strategic communication agenda and translate needs and demands in the organisation to initiatives. You will report directly to Head of EVP Communication, R&ED.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Provide leadership to the Communication Partnering team
  • Act as a strong support and sparring partner to the Head of EVP Communication, R&ED, driving the development and execution of strategic employee and leadership communications
  • Ensure leadership communications oversight by overseeing and ensuring the editorial alignment of SVP communications to maintain consistent messaging and branding across all communication channels
  • Engage senior leaders to understand communication needs, collaborating to provide effective and tailored communication solutions that meet their requirements
  • Regularly evaluate the performance of the Communication Partnering team, providing feedback, and implementing strategies for professional development and continuous improvement

The position will be based in Måløv, Denmark.

Qualifications

To thrive and succeed in this position, we expect you to have:

  • Master’s degree in communication, business administration or related field
  • Several years of work experience from working within large global companies
  • Strong professional communication background and impactful narrator with extensive experience as strategic communication advisor from other corporate environments
  • Experienced in developing and implementing global change and communication strategies
  • Experienced with people leadership
  • Advanced and fluent in spoken and written English

On a personal level, you have a strategic and innovative mindset. You are proactive and can challenge and influence senior leadership with strategic communication recommendations, coupled with strong interpersonal skills to build consensus and influence at all levels of the organisation. You can work in a global, multi-cultural context and your robust interpersonal and communication skills enable you to effectively set direction and collaborate across teams and departments, fostering an environment of strategic thinking and a team-oriented approach.

About the department

Communication Partnering is a newly established centralised team within R&ED Communication and is composed of R&ED Communication Partners. The team is responsible for delivering strong strategic communication advisory and partnering to the R&ED LT members. This includes developing and driving communication plans and key messages with an enterprise mindset. In addition, the Head of Communication Partnering will act as a strong support and sparring partner to the EVP Communication Partner & Head of R&ED Communication.

The department is part of the cross-functional area Strategy, Portfolio, Operations & Communication (SPOC) which serves as a central support entity within R&ED, partnering with the business to address existing and evolving priorities and needs. The organisation encompasses the R&ED Communication team, a Project Management Consultancy team, driving impactful strategic, operational, cultural, and/or “out of the box” innovative projects in service of R&ED, as well as the Integrations, the Investments & DK Operations Team, the Strategy, Governance & Portfolio Team and Site Operations (US & NNCRO).
