Novo Nordisk is looking for an experienced VP, Safety Surveillance to join us during an exciting period of industry-leading growth. In this key role you will have global responsibility for the surveillance of all safety information for Novo Nordisk’s products that are currently marketed or under clinical development across the full product portfolio.
Reporting to Corporate Vice President, Global Patient Safety, you will lead a team of around 200 professionals and will collaborate with multiple stakeholders across the Development or-ganization and other parts of the value chain. Your influence will extend to the executive level, allowing you to make a significant impact.
Based in greater Copenhagen area, Denmark, this is a perfect role for a visionary leader ready to take on new challenges and drive the success for Novo Nordisk. We welcome applicants based in Denmark and those that are willing to relocate.

The position
As the Head of Safety Surveillance at Novo Nordisk, you will:

  • Lead the global Safety Surveillance within Global Patient Safety.
  • Drive the development and execution of the global Safety Surveillance strategy.
  • Establish, maintain, and run a global safety surveillance system compliant with regulatory requirements for all products.
  • Secure safety input to clinical trial activities, e.g., protocols, clinical trial reports, in-vestigator meetings and result meetings.
  • Consult with the affiliates and ensure a smooth cooperation between Global Patient Safety and the affiliates.
  • Ensure high surveillance standards are observed throughout the assigned portfolio.
  • Lead, coach and develop specialist teams with first-class pharmacovigilance compe-tencies.
  • Be the role model and drive our culture of collaboration and patient-centric ambi-tions.
  • Effectively collaborate with the key stakeholders across Research and Development, production, commercial, affiliates, and executive management.

Qualifications
We are looking for an experienced leader with the following qualifications:

  • Degree as Medical Doctor or PhD within Life Science.
  • Proven experience within pharmacovigilance with more than 10 years of experience from the pharma industry within drug development.
  • Proven track record of successfully driving Safety Surveillance strategies.
  • Experience with the evaluation of drug and device safety, including a solid knowledge of international requirements for these areas.
  • Extensive people leadership experience with proven track record of leading leaders.
  • You are a team player and have a strong interest in developing people and teams in your area and across Novo Nordisk.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with multiple stakeholders in a complex matrix envi-ronment.
  • You are known as a leader that excels in driving change and innovation.
  • Interest to grow and develop your expertise and ambition to grow your career with Novo Nordisk.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and a strong ability to coordinate and prioritise resources.


About the department
The Global Safety Surveillance plays a crucial role in ensuring the safety and efficacy of Novo Nordisk's products throughout their lifecycle. With responsibilities spanning from product de-velopment to life cycle management, the team ensures comprehensive monitoring, evalua-tion, and reporting of safety data.
Collaborating with internal stakeholders across various global locations, the team is structured into seven departments with around 200 employees. The headquarters functions are distrib-uted across Søborg, Denmark, Bangalore, India, and Boston/Princeton, US.
