The Director of Global Procurement, Purchasing, and Vendor Management is a critical leadership role responsible for overseeing and optimizing the procurement and vendor management functions across the OneSource organization.
This position demands a strategic thinker with extensive experience in
global procurement practices, purchasing processes, and vendor relationship management.
The Director will lead a team dedicated to sourcing and managing suppliers, ensuring cost-effective procurement strategies, and maintaining high standards of quality and compliance.
Responsibilities
Global Procurement Strategy:
- Develop and implement global procurement strategies aligned with the company’s overall
- business objectives.
- Identify and evaluate opportunities for cost savings, process improvements, and enhanced procurement efficiencies across all regions.
Purchasing Management:
- Oversee the end-to-end purchasing process, including requisition, sourcing, negotiation, and contract management.
- Ensure timely and cost-effective procurement of goods and services, maintaining high standards of quality and compliance.
Vendor Management:
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with key vendors and suppliers to ensure reliable delivery and performance.
- Develop and execute vendor management strategies, including performance evaluations, risk assessments, and resolution of issues.
Team Leadership:
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of procurement and vendor management professionals, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture.
- Conduct performance reviews, provide feedback, and support professional growth and development within the team.
Contract Negotiation and Management:
- Negotiate and manage contracts with suppliers and vendors, ensuring favorable terms, compliance with company policies, and alignment with legal requirements.
- Review and approve contractual agreements, amendments, and renewals. Cost Management and Budgeting:
- Develop and manage the procurement budget, ensuring cost-effective purchasing decisions and adherence to financial targets.
- Analyze spending patterns and implement strategies to optimize procurement costs and improve financial performance.
Compliance and Risk Management:
- Ensure compliance with internal policies, regulatory requirements, and industry standards in all procurement activities.
- Identify potential risks in the procurement and vendor management processes and develop strategies to mitigate these risks.
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
- Collaborate with other departments, such as Finance, Legal, and Operations, to align procurement strategies with business needs and ensure seamless integration of procurement activities.
- Lead cross-functional projects related to procurement and vendor management, driving organizational goals and efficiencies.
Market Analysis and Supplier Development:
- Conduct market research and analysis to stay informed of industry trends, emerging technologies, and supplier innovations.
- Develop and implement supplier development programs to enhance supplier performance and capability.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or a related field
- Proven experience (typically 8+ years) in global procurement, purchasing, and vendor management, with at least 3-5 years in a managerial role.
- Strong understanding of procurement processes, vendor management, and contract negotiation.
- Demonstrated experience in developing and executing global procurement strategies and managing complex vendor relationships.
- Excellent leadership and team management skills, with a track record of building and leading high-performing teams.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a data-driven approach to decision-making.
- Exceptional negotiation skills and experience managing large-scale contracts and agreements.
- Proficiency in procurement and supply chain management software and tools. · Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate with stakeholders at all levels.
Preferred Characteristics
- MBA or advanced degree preferred.
- Procurement experience in laboratory services
