LabCorp is seeking a Director of Laboratory Services to join our team in the Hospital Systems Operating Division. This is a great leadership opportunity, where you will facilitate innovation, manage change, and foster team building. This position will oversee the integration and management of HSO hospital managed labs covering 4 health system clients across 9 States.

Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, with the ability to fluctuate to meet business needs.

Location: Remote

Travel: 30-40% Annually

Responsibilities:

  • Plans, directs, and oversees the day-to-day operations and delivery of services of the laboratory organization to meet business goals and projections.
  • Ensures excellent customer service through effective communication with laboratory, hospital, clinic, and healthcare system administration, physicians, and staff.
  • Evaluates performance by analyzing and interpreting data and operation metrics.
  • Plays an active and involved role in the identification and timely resolution of operational issues including planning and implementing process improvement activities.
  • Actively monitors a comprehensive, effective laboratory quality program.
  • Creates an inclusive and collaborative culture that will drive the hospital region to achieve business goals and objectives.
  • Develops employees and leaders who demonstrate Company values and leadership characteristics while achieving great results and delivering a delightful customer experience.
  • Position and communicate the vision and services of the organization to customers, business partners and employees by maintaining a high degree of external visibility to enhance the division's credibility.
  • Monitors productivity and ensures productivity targets are met
  • Assures compliance with all policies, procedures, and standardizing protocols as well as with regulatory, licensing and accreditation agencies related to laboratory services.
  • The position requires travel.
  • Incumbent my be required to perform other related duties.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Biology, Chemistry, Medical Technology or a related life science.
  • License/Registration/Certification Required: Medical Technologist (MT) certification or Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) certification
  • Minimum 6 years of clinical laboratory experience within a supervisory or management role.
  • Prior experience working with or in a Hospital System.
  • Previous experience managing multiple high-volume locations including budgets
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels including a heavy customer focus when working with client leadership
  • Proven ability to assure compliance with regulatory, accrediting, and licensing agencies
  • Familiar with laboratory instrumentation and equipment automation
  • Strong working knowledge of supply chain operations and expense control
  • Understanding of laboratory operations as well as policies and procedures
  • Proven success in training and developing both technical and non-technical employees
  • Ability to problem solve and provide solutions under minimal supervision
  • Proficient with Laboratory Information Systems and Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint and Word)
  • Strong communication skills; both written and verbal
  • High level of attention to detail with strong organizational skills

  • Laboratory and Technical experience
  • Hospital System and Operations Consulting
