What You Will Achieve
The key strategic focus area within our Internal Medicine Research Unit (IMRU) is identifying novel therapies to prevent or treat diseases associated with diabetes or metabolic syndrome including obesity, heart failure and renal disease. Our goal is to build a research team of driven scientists focused on developing a deep mechanistic understanding of the pathways driving cardiovascular diseases.
How You Will Achieve It
A successful candidate must be able to analyze and interpret data that will be generated.
Compliance to laboratory safety and electronic notebook standards.
Work effectively with peers to support projects.
The candidate will be able to perform molecular biology experiments, including but not limited to cell culture, quantitative real-time PCR, ELISA and western blotting.
Qualifications
Must-Have
Bachelor’s degree in biology, pharmacology, biochemistry, molecular biology or other related discipline with 2-3 years of lab experience OR master’s degree in biology, pharmacology, biochemistry, molecular biology or other related discipline (0 to 3 years of experience)
Ability to troubleshoot methodologies and experimental results.
Excellent organization and planning skills, the ability to work in a fast-paced environment independently or as part of a team, strong motivation with a dedicated work ethic.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to use appropriate software to perform data analysis.
Experience with standard cell and molecular biology techniques.
Identify and report any experimental problems, proactively troubleshoot causative factors, and implement necessary corrections following discussion with supervisor.
Nice-to-Have
Desirable experience with rodent handling (mouse and rat) and in vivo technical skills (dosing, tissue collection, etc.).

The annual base salary for this position ranges from $64,600.00 to $107,600.00. In addition, this position is eligible for participation in Pfizer’s Global Performance Plan with a bonus target of 7.5% of the base salary.
