The Position

This role is based in the Global IT Architecture chapter and is part of the Solution Architecture Technical Operations section. We're responsible for defining and communicating a common technical and architectural vision across a solution/release train in accordance with the overall Informatics technology strategy and principles to ensure that the solutions being developed are fit for purpose. Solution Architecture ensures that the landscape along an E2E business process is designed to perform as expected, has built-in observability, balances emergent design, and takes a systems view across the value stream.

The opportunity:

You will work with product managers, product line leaders and business stakeholders to enable and guide the design and development of an integrated view of the business processes and associated business landscape to identify current and future opportunities for synergy, integration and knowledge sharing. You will work with the Enterprise Architects and other Solution Architects to realize the vision of the domain and promote platform thinking, reusability and interoperability.

  • You provide strategic consultation to assigned line-of-business (LOB) customers in defining or designing business processes, functions and organizational structures, as well as using customer requirements in researching, identifying and internally marketing enabling technologies.

  • You assess current state of solutions, define future state needs, identify gaps and you recommend new technology solutions and strategic business execution improvements

  • You facilitate stakeholder sessions with personnel across all fields in the company to identify and define requirements, assess business processes and evaluate technology solutions

  • You run Architectural Design Session(s) to build plans for implementing solutions which align to business goals and technical environments.

  • You conduct solution architecture research, PoCs, PoVs, feasibility assessment and facilitate solution application selections

  • You formulate business and logical data and solution architectures comprised of software, network, hardware and integration designs

  • You create and own the Solution Architecture documentation

  • You Identify, escalate, and work to resolve technical blockers (e.g., changing configurations, sample coding) to accelerate architecture implementations, and route non-technical issues for removal by appropriate parties.

  • You develop IT Strategy & Roadmap consistent with the overall strategic needs of the business division.

Who you are:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, systems analysis or a related study, or equivalent experience

  • Extensive professional IT experience. The person must have demonstrated an ability to think strategically and translate plans into operational excellence.

  • Deep expertise & business knowledge in the Diagnostics or Medical Devices industry and associated processes.

  • Experience with discrete manufacturing or instrument manufacturing is a must have. Implementation expertise in major Manufacturing and Laboratory applications such as LIMS, MES and Digitalization / Automation of Laboratory work.

  • Expertise in multiple technologies domains (e.g. ERP, Instrument connection, typical Manufacturing / Laboratory software, networks, systems, databases, security, etc.)

  • Extensive technical experience with cloud and hybrid infrastructures (incl. containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes, cloud architecture designs and migrations. Ability to quickly comprehend the functions and capabilities of new technologies.

  • Experience with agile methodologies such as Scrum and SAFe Ability to understand the long-term ("big picture") and short-term perspectives of situations

  • Strong leadership skills and experience in managing large groups. Person must have demonstrated ability to work across organizations.

  • Demonstrated ability to frame complex issues and persuade a wide and diverse audience

Capabilities:

  • Sound and mature business judgment capable of contributing on a broad range of strategic topics, not just technology issues

  • Demonstrated ability to be a Strategic inspiring leader who has the ability to envision the future and recognizes and values the potential that IT can have on the organization and can communicate that vision to client executives

  • Influencer and negotiator who can align executives and senior stakeholders to a shared vision and roadmap

  • Understands how to lead the process of gaining agreement and acceptance for new technologies and standards by listening to the needs of the client organization and educating management on the capability of new technologies

  • Ability to effectively define a strategic vision and communicate it effectively

  • Business fluent in English, German is an advantage
