The Strategic Workflow Consultant creates value by focusing on complex automated laboratory solutions to improve customers’ workflow processes, specifically in clinical chemistry diagnostic laboratories. This field-based position provides operational and technical expertise in identifying, evaluating, and developing effective systems and processes at customer sites which fosters diagnostic sales opportunities and positions strategic opportunities within Roche Healthcare Consulting solutions. Competitive candidates will have experience developing and/or improving clinical chemistry diagnostics laboratory workflows.

This position partners with customers and internal stakeholders (global Roche Healthcare Consulting teams, global business affiliates, marketing, IT, and other teams) to address customers' unique priorities, challenges, and needs through continuous improvement efforts, including (but not limited to) collecting and reviewing customer feedback, refining methods/tools, performing complex analyses, and recommending solutions. As a result, this fosters and supports sales opportunities and also positions commercial opportunities for Roche Healthcare Consulting (RHC).

This is a field-based role, the territory consists of multiple states in the Southeast region including Houston TX, New Orleans LA, Memphis and Nashville TN

The Opportunity

  • Provide pre and post-sales support to the consulting team and sales for the development and implementation of recommended complex diagnostic solutions; collaboratively develop detailed customer installation requirements with customers, Roche Support Network, and Roche Information Technology teams

  • ​​Support operational assessments and advice to customers impacting cost, quality and productivity metrics by using tools such as process maps, value stream mapping, 5S, VDM, A3, X-Matrix, Standard Work, Workplace Redesign, Operational Changeover, etc.

  • Collaborates with RHC team members to develop metrics that provide data for process measurement; identifies indicators for future improvement opportunities; collects data to identify root cause of problems; measures performance against process requirements; aligns improvement to performance targets.

  • Perform related administrative duties such as creating and submitting expense/status reports and adhering to Roche policies and any additional regulatory requirements

  • This is a field based role

Who You Are

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Business, Operations Management, Sciences or closely related scientific/technical discipline.

  • Experience with process mapping, statistical and reporting tools

  • 5 years of experience in Operations, Engineering, Quality, Regulatory or equivalent, including experience in successfully leading cross functional teams in driving results

  • Able to travel +75% of the time and reside within 50 miles of a major metropolitan airport in the Southeastern half of the US.

Preferences, Skills and Competencies

  • Experience working with developing and improving clinical chemistry diagnostics laboratory workflows

  • Six Sigma Green Belt Certification or equivalent experience using lean or related methodologies in clinical chemistry diagnostic laboratories

  • Experience in industrial finance, labor optimization, and asset management

  • Proven track record of managing medium to large scale improvement projects and delivering results through implementation and expertise with the continuous improvement methodologies

  • Experience in collaborating and influencing leadership teams to develop strategy and implementation of strategy

  • Proven skills in stakeholder management, and team management that are not direct reports

  • Six Sigma Green Belt Certification or equivalent experience using lean or related methodologies

  • Leadership skills including stakeholder management, team building, and problem solving

  • Detail oriented, adaptable to change and ambiguity and possesses a willingness to learn

  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to connect with and positively influence leadership

  • Passion for driving improvement and leading change

  • Strong communication, presentation, and language skills (written and verbal)

The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of Houston, TX is $102,400.00 to $190,200.00. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law. A discretionary annual bonus may be available based on individual and Company performance. This position also qualifies for the benefits detailed at the link provided below.
