The Position

As Head of Legal and Compliance, you lead the Legal and Compliance team, including also Quality, Regulatory & Local Safety Officer and Commercial Contract Management, Public Procurement & Tender Management, and with that being the business partner on all “license to operate” topics for Roche Diagnostics in Slovakia.

The Head of Legal and Compliance is a permanent member of the Roche Diagnostics Slovakia Leadership Team.

In this role you will:

  • Develop and implement the company’s legal and compliance strategy in alignment with business priorities, and goals

  • Maintain Roche’s license to operate by ensuring that the company’s policies and procedures comply with legal and regulatory requirements including but not limited to antitrust, data privacy, distribution arrangements, public procurement, anti-bribery regulation, regulatory, employment, and product liability

  • Monitor changes in relevant legislation and the regulatory environment and ensure the appropriate stakeholders are informed and appropriate actions are taken

  • Ensure execution of Local Safety Officer (LSO) and Affiliate Quality Head (AQH) agenda execution

  • Partner with the business in tender processes by identifying and analyzing opportunities and mitigating legal risks; leading contract negotiation with key customers and/or stakeholders and owning end-to-end contract lifecycle management processes

  • Advise on new aspects of the law ensuring that the business is continuously compliant, taking into consideration new business models and digitalization (e.g. data sharing arrangements, e-commerce)

  • Manage corporate law matters (e.g. granting of powers of attorney, corporate law operations, commercial leases, delegations of authorities, inter-company agreements)

  • Act as the single point of contact for all legal matters and, as needed, coordinate and assign actions to external counsel support while ensuring quality and containing costs

  • Coordinate and align with the Diagnostics lawyers and connect with the Roche Legal network to source and share best practices with regard to business challenges and opportunities

  • Ensure the execution of local compliance initiatives: training, processes policies and standard operating procedures, communication, and monitoring and auditing of compliance matters

  • Ensure the effectiveness of the Legal and Compliance function in the oversight and management of all legal matters, including contracts, litigation, engagement, and communication with external legal, regulatory, or compliance bodies

  • Lead and develop a high-performing “license to operate” team by setting clear objectives, prioritizing work, and working to optimize operational tasks in support of the business teams

  • Foster collaboration, provide guidance and resources, conduct regular check-ins, implement development plans, and create a positive work environment that aligns with company goals, culture and policies

  • Ensure alignment and synergy leverage between Roche Diagnostics and Roche Pharma within the scope of operating within one legal entity

  • Drive business continuity agenda through ownership and responsibility for business continuity plan

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS

  • Law degree from a reputable University

  • Having worked as a qualified lawyer is a plus

  • Work experience, obtained via a combination of private practice and in-house, preferably in the medical device, biotech, or pharmaceutical industries

  • A minimum of 5 years of leadership experience either directly, matrixed, or otherwise

  • Proven track record of managing complex legal and compliance issues

  • In-depth knowledge of Slovak healthcare laws, regulations, and compliance standards

  • Deep understanding of the Slovak market and culture

  • High level of integrity, professionalism, and ethical standards

  • Fluent in written and verbal English and Slovak

Salary starts from 5100 EUR gross/month. Final salary will depend on the level of experience, skills and qualifications.
