About the Position:

We are seeking a highly experienced and seasoned Senior Release Train Engineer (RTE) to join our team. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in leading and managing our Agile Release Train (ART) to ensure the seamless and efficient delivery of valuable software products. This role requires deep expertise in Agile methodologies, leadership, and exceptional communication skills to coordinate large, complex projects and programs..
Assigns and supervises work of technical employees, ensuring that project steps are in alignment with business objectives, on-time and within budget.

The Opportunity:

  • Lead and manage Agile Release Train (ART) for Linux rollouts.

  • Coordinate the planning, execution, and delivery of features for Roche Linux and Windows operating systems on diagnostic instruments, facilitating PI planning, ART syncs, and Scrum of Scrums to ensure readiness and smooth progress for Agile Release Trains (ARTs).

  • Coordinate with DevOps, QA, and Security teams to ensure seamless Linux-based OS releases, track dependencies, risks, and mitigation plans, and manage release schedules in alignment with business goals.

  • Promote continuous improvement and Agile best practices by implementing SAFe, conducting Inspect and Adapt workshops, assessing and improving ART and Solution Train agility, and optimizing performance through retrospectives and Lean UX innovation cycles.

  • Provide resourcing input to the portfolio committee, ensure financial coverage for the RLX program, and hold Product Managers and Owners accountable for strategic alignment.

  • Liaise between engineering, security, operations, and product teams, manage stakeholders and partners, and align ART goals with business objectives in collaboration with senior leadership.

  • Ensure compliance with open-source licensing and security policies, support teams with kernel updates and OS security improvements, and supervise and improve release metrics such as cycle time, defect rates, and deployment success.


Who you are:

  • Minimum 15+ years in Business, IT, Engineering, or equivalent field, with a Bachelor's degree and proven experience as a Release Train Engineer or 5-7 years in Project/Program Management in a regulated environment.

  • Minimum 2+ years in leading Linux operating system deployments in a regulated environment, with experience in Linux distributions (e.g., Ubuntu, RHEL, Kubernetes, Debian) and solid understanding of CI/CD tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI, ArgoCD).

  • Diverse background in IT project environments, particularly in the Medical Device industry, with experience working with multiple (3+) Scrum teams in a single program.

  • Expertise in Scrum, Kanban, Lean, and Agile scaling models (e.g., SAFe, LeSS, DAD), with the ability to mentor multiple teams operationally.

  • Proficient in English (spoken and written), proactive, self-driven, motivated, and a team player with excellent communication, presentation, and conflict leadership skills.

  • Good technical knowledge of Linux, databases, and web technologies, with experience in Design Sprints and Design Thinking.
