Regional Business Director - Women's Health - Pacific Coast

SAGE Therapeutics is searching for a results-oriented, highly collaborative, and proven sales leader to fill an important role responsible for expanding our current sales team for our ongoing product launch in postpartum depression (PPD). This leadership role represents a unique opportunity to build a best-in-class sales team, primarily focusing on Obstetrics/Gynecology and a secondary focus on Psychiatry, Internal Medicine, and Primary Care. This position will be critical in embracing and demonstrating our core values and ensuring we deliver value to patients. The Regional Business Director will also develop and implement a regional business plan to maximize business opportunities and achieve/exceed regional goals. The RBD must work cross-functionally across the Sage organization and with our alliance partners to maximize regional market performance. The RBD will be responsible for continuing to build our sales organization at a regional level and be accountable for the day-to-day management and oversight of our sales teams. The RBD will work to outline and execute professional development plans for each team member.
Roles and Responsibilities (Essential Functions)

- Achieving the Regional goals
- Set and communicate performance expectations and goals and how these contribute to the strategy
- Development and execution of regional business plans that are aligned with meeting corporate and commercial business objectives
- Leading and motivating a team of Neuropsych Account Managers, focused on Women’s Health within their respective region
- Building a culture of compliance to ensure that all promotional activities are fully compliant with Company policies and procedures, applicable laws, regulations, and industry standards
- Provide coaching and mentoring that includes development plans, training, resources, and opportunities for the team
- Ensure cross-functional alignment of key strategies and tactics and ensure effective communication and implementation at the regional and territory levels
- Operate efficiently in collaboration with alliance partners to achieve regional sales goals
- Review and analyze key reports to ensure quarterly and annual objectives are met. Continuously review, evaluate, and make recommendations regarding sales strategies
- Promote a customer-centered culture that strives to exceed customer needs, requirements, and expectations by educating and developing rapport with external customers
- Manage the overall financial performance of the team to achieve the attainment of financial goals within the assigned budget
Experience, Education and Specialized Knowledge and Skills
Must thrive working in a fast-paced, innovative environment while remaining flexible, proactive, resourceful, and efficient. Excellent interpersonal skills, ability to develop important relationships with key stakeholders, ability to identify issues and raise to key stakeholders to develop relevant and realistic plans, programs, and recommendations.
Basic Qualifications
- BA/BS degree required
- 8+ years related experience in the biotechnology industry with a proven, consistent history of high performance in leadership roles of increasing responsibility
Preferred Qualifications
- 4+ years sales leadership experience with demonstrated results as a first-line leader within a Women’s Health / OBGYN, Psychiatry customer base
- Experience working with Specialty Pharmacy models and experience in Women's Health and/or CNS arena is a significant plus
- Experience with first-in-class product launches and specialty pharmacy
- Demonstrated track record of accomplishment in regional sales leadership. Ability to lead highly effective cross-functional teams
- Proven launch experience leading a team in highly complicated and competitive environments
- Demonstrated success in developing and executing effective strategic Regional Business plans
- Demonstrates exceptional leadership, communication, and engagement skills to inspire sales teams to achieve high levels of performance and sales call impact
- Demonstrated success leading and motivating teams of sales professionals responsible for securing product access, developing awareness, and inspiring change in physician practices and offices
- Demonstrated track record of coaching and developing sales professionals to achieve excellence
- Experience building out and leading newer sales teams is preferred
- Working knowledge of market access strategies and pull-through planning at the regional/local market level
- Ability to attract, develop, and retain talent and effectively manage performance
- Strong team player who has a customer service approach and is solution-oriented
- Ability to travel up to 40%
