We are searching for motivated, enthusiastic, and hands-on individuals interested in advancing science through the manufacturing of our CRISPR products. As a Lead Lab Associate at Synthego, you will join our growing operations team and have direct responsibility for the synthesis and purification of our gRNA products in the Research Use Only factory. This role requires a strong attention to detail, a desire to learn and adapt to new processes, and familiarity with safe laboratory practices. This role will combine hands-on laboratory protocols with advanced automation to ensure the timely delivery of high quality products to our customers.
Swing shift: Monday through Friday; 2:30 PM to 11 PM

What You'll Do:

  • Responsible for driving production of the Small Scale Manufacturing Team with guidance from team’s management.
  • Activities include but not limited to:
  • Lead the day to day activities by scheduling work, ensuring on time completion of assigned jobs and providing guidance to team members
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with other shifts and departments such as Factor Service, Logistics, Quality Assurance and Chemistry for product/process related issues and handoffs
  • Drafts and edits manufacturing documents/SOPs as needed to reflect current best practices and current processes.
  • Monitor and drive production schedule adherence prioritizing sales order and work orders as needed.
  • Train team members on new processes and document their training
  • Functions as the primary point of contact when shift supervisor is out or unavailable.
  • Triage, investigates, and troubleshoots and resolves problems arising from day to day operations.
  • Escalate issues that are out of the scope of normal production.
  • If necessary, follow up by creating new tickets to log, investigate and/or resolve issues.
  • Report on key metrics and drive performance to meet goals
  • Perform inventory reconciliation
  • Practice and drive continuous process improvement with team
  • Synthesize oligonucleotides by following established SOP’s which consists of but not limited to:
  • Operate complex robotic systems to manage liquid product through a highly automated workflow
  • Mix, store, and dispose of chemical solutions
  • Print labels for bottles, vials, and boxes
  • Package, seal, inventory, and ship products
  • Ensure laboratory products and supplies are maintained and stocked
  • Capture production data in compliance with standard guidelines

About You:

  • 4+ years of experience working preferably in a manufacturing/production environment or laboratory with leadership experience
  • AA in Chemistry, Biotech Certification, Bachelor’s degree in a relevant sciences field or in lieu of degree, relevant work experience
  • Desire to work in a fast-paced, collaborative startup environment with a strong commitment to quality
  • Demonstrates strong interpersonal and communication skills (both written and oral)
  • Self starter who is comfortable working with minimal instruction
  • Demonstrates high level of integrity and accountability with an ability to make good decision
  • Demonstrates ability to work independently and as part of a team, to meet departmental goals
  • Must be able to lift/move up to 25 pounds
  • Must be able to sit and/or stand for extended periods up to four (4) hours at a time
