JOB DESCRIPTION

JOB TITLE: Engineering Student P1

REPORTS TO: Maintenance Engineer

JOB PURPOSE:

The Engineering Department have a very important role to play in TILGC’s commitment to efficient manufacturing of high-quality product. Various projects will be given to the Engineering Student during their time on site with some key tasks and responsibilities outlined below. The Student Engineer must be capable of working on their own initiative and as part of a flexible team in a demanding, highly regulated environment. They will be required to proactively contribute to the delivery of Engineering targets on schedule and in compliance with quality, safety and environmental requirements.

The Student Engineer role is a learning and development internship as part of a Pharmaceutical Engineering Department. The role is aimed at developing the student and demonstrating the skills and responsibilities required, in preparation for the employee’s future career.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Engineering

  • Perform duties as directed in whatever area of Engineering they are assigned to. This would include (but not be limited to)
    • the provision of direct technical support to manufacturing operations
    • investigation and reporting in relation to equipment failure and various processing issues
    • working to improve the operation of the maintenance management system
    • carry out specific projects from front end design, to commissioning, to final handover
    • the specification, selection and introduction of new equipment
    • actively participate in the annual site shutdown
  • Play a role in the introduction of new equipment to site, together with the preparation and execution of validation protocols.
  • Provide technical support and direction to manufacturing personnel in order to ensure that the manufacturing and ancillary facilities can be operated to optimum efficiency. Also to ensure that equipment changeovers can be carried out in an efficient and effective manner.
  • Actively participate in problem identification, problem solving and change initiatives in cooperation with other teams and services. Continuous improvement with a cross functional focus is a core activity.

Optimization of PM Program within P1 facility.

  • Assisting with Spare parts gap assessments with Engineer within the P1 facility
  • Sap Mobile Maintenance implementation within the facility and barcoding of all assets.
  • Assisting with the creation of Work instructions for all equipment PM’s.

Quality Systems and GMP

  • Perform Engineering tasks in accordance with TILGC quality standards, current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP) and all other relevant policies, procedures, regulations and standards including Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Legislation.
  • Complete required documentation relating to Engineering activities in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Notify the Maintenance Engineer/Designee (or other appropriate responsible person) in a timely and comprehensive manner of any deviations from defined Engineering processes or procedures. Any abnormal occurrences or observations should also be reported.
  • Generate documentation associated with Engineering activities as required by cGMP and other regulatory documentation (Quality, Environmental, Health & Safety,) as required.
  • Ask, if in doubt, about any particular practice or unusual finding.

Safety

  • Actively foster, in cooperation with other TILGC staff, an ethos and culture of safety awareness where safety is accepted as an integral part of the overall business.
  • Adhere fully to all safety policies, procedures and regulations.
  • Notify the Maintenance Engineer/Designee (or other appropriate responsible person) in a timely and comprehensive manner of any;
    • breach of EHS policy, procedure or regulation
    • potential hazard which could have a serious impact on safety or result in serious personal injury.
  • Complete Accident Reports / Near Miss Forms in a timely manner after an event.

Housekeeping

  • Always maintain the workplace and ancillary facilities in a clean and tidy state.

Training

  • Lead/actively participate in all training and assessment activities (internal and external).
  • Preparation and delivery of training materials.
  • Ensure timely completion of all SOP training and assessment tasks.
  • Ensure that all training and assessment is accurately and promptly recorded in accordance with TILGC procedures.
  • Maintain and improve their professional knowledge base. Keep up to date with all current trends and relevant legislation.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Participate fully in any cross functional training initiatives.
  • Drive and promote the corporate values of Takeda-ism within the workplace.
  • Actively foster, in cooperation with other TIL staff, an ethos and culture of safety awareness where safety is accepted as an integral part of the overall business. Ensure that Accident Reports / Near Miss Forms are completed in a timely manner after an event.
  • Ensure timely completion of all SOP, reading, training and assessment.
  • Other duties as required and directed by the relevant Manager or other Officer appointed by the Board of Directors.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Studying towards a 3rd Level Degree in Engineering or another relevant course.

RELEVANT EXPERIENCE/CRITERIA:

  • Have excellent verbal and communication skills.
  • Possess a high level of initiative and enthusiasm
