For Takeda Ireland Ltd, we are looking for a


Data Scientist

for a full-time, permanent position at our Grange Castle production site in Lucan, Dublin, Ireland.


As a Data Scientist , you will join our dynamic Manufacturing Science Team. You will play a crucial role in supporting various departments, including manufacturing, engineering, and quality with a multidisciplinary approach, utilizing skills in chemical engineering, mathematics, statistics, computer science, communication, and business.


Your role will focus on applying chemical engineering principles, and gathering, analyzing, and modeling data to improve processes. Additionally, you’ll support the identification of digitization opportunities to drive continuous improvement.


Your tasks in detail:

  • Lead and optimize manufacturing processes for synthetic molecules using process modeling and simulation.
  • Utilize advanced process modeling tools and digital twin functionalities for process characterization.
  • Develop experimental designs and workflows for model development, validation, and verification.
  • Collaborate with global teams to deploy digital twins of unit operations.
  • Identify local data analytics opportunities and drive initiatives like Predictive Maintenance and Down Time Analysis.
  • Manage process monitoring and improvement efforts with the Process Development Lab.
  • Support and participate in data analytics communities and cross-functional training initiatives.
  • Promote Takeda-ism values and maintain a culture of safety.
  • Ensure timely completion of SOPs, training, and assessments.
  • Perform other duties as directed by management.

Your profile:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in chemical engineering, data science, or related technical fields or equivalent qualification
  • 2-5 years of experience in chemical engineering modeling and data mining in a manufacturing setting.
  • Understanding of pharmaceutical manufacturing processes.
  • Strong knowledge of transport phenomena and thermodynamics.
  • Experience with CFD software (e.g., Ansys, Star CCM+, MStar CFD) and reaction kinetic modeling software (e.g., ReactionLab, Dynochem, gPROMS).
  • Proficient in data collection from systems like sensors, controllers, and industrial systems.
  • Experience with business process automation and statistical methods.
  • Experience with software such as BioVia Discoverant, SIMCA, and creating web apps with Microsoft PowerApps is advantageous.
  • Familiarity with AI/ML methodologies, multivariate analysis, and Principal Component Analysis (PCA).
  • Strong problem-solving, analytical aptitude, and ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Fluent in written and spoken English.
