HOW WILL YOU MAKE AN IMPACT?

The Digital Communications Senior Manager collaborates on a team of communications professionals who develop and deliver impactful communications to engage Thermo Fisher Scientific partners around the world.

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced social media and content marketing professional to lead our corporate digital media programs as well as other digital channels, including our company podcast, Science with a Twist. Candidate will develop and implement comprehensive strategies to improve our brand presence, engaging our target audience, and driving awareness of our StoryLab content across digital channels. The ideal candidate should possess strong leadership skills, an in-depth understanding of social media trends, an eye for recognizing and editing/crafting engaging social media content (storytelling), experience influencing executive thought leadership programs, and a passion for podcasting and communicating in the digital world.

In this role, you will report to the Director of Global Public Relations and StoryLab and be a member of the team responsible for setting and driving Thermo Fisher Scientific’s global external communications strategy. Candidate's social media, storytelling savvy will help raise the profile of Thermo Fisher Scientific among all relevant target audiences, connecting them to the incredible impact our innovations enable. This role will work across Thermo Fisher’s Global Communications function and businesses to drive strategies that bring the Thermo Fisher story to life, fostering our thought leadership pillars around our Mission, Innovation and Impact.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND EXPECTATIONS

  • Develop and lead the company’s social media strategy in support of Thermo Fisher’s business objectives.
  • Supervise the day-to-day operations of our social media channels (e.g., LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram) and drive effective content marketing strategies crafted to increase audience reach and engagement.
  • Curate compelling content, including written posts, graphics, videos, and other multimedia formats (in collaboration with PR agency).
  • Monitor trends, tools, and standard methodologies to continuously optimize our strategies.
  • Acts as a trusted advisor and partner for business communicators and executives.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including PR, marketing and communications to align efforts with overall business objectives.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with influencers, industry leaders, and strategic partners to expand brand reach and drive engagement.
  • Lead our podcast production, including content planning, guest selection, scriptwriting, recording, and distribution (in partnership with team members and production agency).
  • Analyze performance metrics, and provide actionable insights to drive continuous improvement.
  • Stay informed about relevant industry regulations, privacy policies, and legal considerations to ensure compliance in all activities.
  • Lead social media critical issue plans and responses, demonstrating resilience and tenacity to ensure timely and effective resolution of inquiries, complaints, and issues.
  • Build strategic plans to proactively handle issues, address potential social media crises and mitigate risks associated with negative sentiment or public backlash.

EDUCATION

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, Marketing or a related field required.

EXPERIENCE

  • 7+ years of experience in communications, preferably in a publicly traded, highly matrixed organization.
  • Previous experience in the life sciences or healthcare industry is a plus.

  • Proven experience and success in leading social media, content marketing and podcasting programs.
  • Extensive knowledge of standard processes for content marketing/creation online community managment and analytics.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills - able to create/curate engaging content and optimally communicate sophisticated ideas.
  • Analytical approach, able to interpret data, generate insights, and make data-driven decisions.
  • Proactive and innovative approach to enhance brand awareness and engagement.
  • Strong project management and prioritization skills.
  • Self-directed and self-motivated.

Compensation and Benefits

The salary range estimated for this position based in California is $130,000.00–$195,000.00.

This position may also be eligible to receive a variable annual bonus based on company, team, and/or individual performance results in accordance with company policy. We offer a comprehensive Total Rewards package that our U.S. colleagues and their families can count on, which includes:
