Job Description

Job Purpose: Manufacturing and Calibrations Engineer

Maintain and repair production and site services equipment to drive efficiencies through continuous improvement and TPM/Lean tools.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Apply a range of mechanical skills including installation, condition-based monitoring, fault finding, and servicing.
  • Deliver planned maintenance on time while ensuring flawless execution.
  • Drive capital expenditure projects through to completion, maintaining world-class standards.
  • Develop and roll out One Point Lessons (OPLs) and Standard Operating Practices (SOPs) to improve equipment usage.
  • Train operating teams in Autonomous Maintenance (AM) to foster inclusion and collaboration.
  • Use TPM/Lean tools to successfully implement continuous improvement and process change initiatives, such as Kaizen activity, Overall Equipment Efficiency (OEE), 5S, and Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP).
  • Actively participate in the company’s Practical Process Improvement (PPI) program.
  • Apply Root Cause Analysis (RCA) to breakdowns, ensuring all corrective and preventative actions are completed.
  • Liaise and supervise external contractors and service engineers, ensuring adherence to safety procedures.
  • Perform to measures within specific goals aligned with departmental plans and the company goal tree.
  • Align with all health, safety, and environmental rules, policies, and procedures.

Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:

  • Educated to GCSE or equivalent standard.
  • City & Guilds/BTEC ONC in Mechanical/Process Engineering. HNC/HND or equivalent experience in Operations and Maintenance or Mechanical Engineering is desirable.
  • Electrical proficiency is desirable.
  • Proven experience in FMCG Pharma/Food industry in a process or packing environment.
  • IT literacy required with a working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Proven track record of improvement project involvement and delivery is preferred.
  • Self-motivated, enthusiastic, with a drive for continuous improvement.
  • Flexible and conscientious outlook essential, demonstrating role model behavior.
  • Ability to participate in an On-call Rota, living within 1-hour commuting distance of the facility.
  • A full 5-year employment check will be conducted prior to commencement.
