The role

We are the Thermo Fisher NanoPort team. As the largest Electron Microscopy demo labs in the world, NanoPort team supports sales of all Electron Microscopy and Spectroscopy products through demonstrations and serves as a meeting place for Thermo Fisher Applications Scientists and customers to collaborate using NanoPort demo instruments. For all these functions, the performance of the microscopes to the highest standards and the general functioning and appearance of the NanoPort lab is critical. We provide technical and scientific expertise in the support of Thermo Fisher Scientific’s Global sales efforts.

Join us as a Field Application Scientist in Transmission Electron Microscope (TEM) and assist us in our mission to become the world leader in serving science. This dynamic position involves providing scientific training, demonstration, mentorship, application support/troubleshooting and technical sales/marketing support.

This is a field-based role, involving extensive travel across Asia-Pacific region including countries such as Australia, Thailand, Indonesia, Singapore, China, India, and other countries. Occasional support needs to be provided to customers in the other countries outside of Asia-pacific region. The position comes with a competitive salary and yearly bonus. How will you make an impact?

You will support the customer in-person at their lab, and by remote support station, phone and email, serving as a trusted advisor as well as a trainer. By doing so, you will help increase customer satisfaction, build loyalty, and contribute to the overall success of the business.

Responsibilities:

Training and Demonstration

  • Deliver customer training to generate revenue and customize content to customer needs.
  • Contribute to the NNP training documentation by creating new content and updating existing ones
  • Support technical sales and account managers to plan training for future customers.
  • Occasionally perform demonstration of TEM capabilities to potential customers at NanoPort or customer sites.

Sales, marketing and service support

  • Generate results for marketing collateral in coordination with Sales Development and Product Marketing managers.
  • Diagnose & resolve product performance problems and customer queries/complaints.
  • Assist the regional sales team in the development of accounts by giving technical seminars and presentations that promote the use of our products.
  • Support service during system installation and acceptance tests.
  • Support factory alignment and acceptance tests.
  • Assist in technical demonstrations for customers.
  • Develop technical content for sales and marketing.

Learning & Certification

  • Maintain up-to-date technical expertise and in-depth knowledge of our product portfolio and scientific developments in TEM and related subjects.
  • Creating technical documentations and learning structure including sustaining skill development system.
  • Improve the quality of customer training.
  • Cross-coach application scientists.

How Will You Get Here?

Education

  • University degree in Materials Science, Physics or Chemistry is required. An advanced degree is preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

  • Knowledge and recent hands-on experience with TEM are required.
  • 5 years of experience in a relevant position within the research environment with recent experience using TEM.
  • Strong interest in aberration-corrected TEM would be a plus.
  • Knowledge of advanced technology diagnostics as well as troubleshooting techniques, operational optimization, and experience of analytical equipment.
  • Proven track record to work well with cross-functional and cross-cultural diverse teams.
  • 5 years of demonstrated ability in a relevant position within the research environment with recent experience using TEM.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills tailored for a diverse audience are critical for this position.
  • Excellent customer interfacing skills a must.
  • Willingness to travel extensively across Asia-Pacific region (up to 60%).
  • Self-managing skills in remote environment.
  • Teaching/coaching skills.
  • Skills to grasp possible learning opportunities through everyday work.
  • Proficient in English.
