As part of GPHS, the Programmer Analyst/Sr. Programmer Analyst will engage in bioinformatics programming activities crucial to research projects. You’ll work on a study team under a lead programmer, focusing on statistical and computational tasks. Ideal candidates have experience with infectious disease data, C, C++, Java, and government support roles. Note: This role does not offer relocation assistance or sponsorship.
A Day in the Life:
- Independently create, execute, maintain, and validate programs transferring data across multiple systems.
- Combine data from various sources, generate and store summary data, and produce reports.
- Validate programs that generate listings, tables, and figures using SAS and standard tools.
- Prepare and analyze clinical trial datasets (e.g., lab data, vital signs, tumor response, imaging, quality of life questionnaires, adverse events).
- Consult with researchers and project teams to recommend tech-based solutions and strategies.
- Develop customized code for clinical bioinformatics or technical use.
- Contribute to a multidisciplinary team, assisting with lead programming activities under management oversight.
- Ensure adherence to departmental SOPs and contribute to informal training materials.
- Enhance your knowledge in programming, technology, clinical trials, and the pharmaceutical industry by working with mentors, attending events, and assisting with best practice documents.
Education & Experience:
- MS/MA in computer science, statistics, biostatistics, mathematics, or related field, OR Bachelor's degree in similar fields with at least 2 years of relevant experience. In some cases, a combination of education, training, and experience will be considered.

- Proficient in one or more programming languages
- Strong attention to detail

- Effective written and verbal communication skills, with proficiency in English

- Solid understanding of relational database structures and complex data systems

Physical Requirements / Work Environment:
- Office environment with exposure to electrical office equipment
- Occasional travel to site locations, both domestic and international
- Frequently stationary for 6-8 hours per day
- Repetitive hand movements and frequent mobility required
- Occasional crouching, stooping, bending, and twisting
- Light to moderate lifting (15-20 lbs)
- Ability to use various computer software
- Effective communication and understanding of spoken and written information
- Frequent interaction with diverse groups to obtain or relay information

Compensation and Benefits
The salary pay range estimated for this position Trial Programmer Analyst based inMaryland is $106,000.00–$138,000.00.This position may also be eligible to receive a variable annual bonus based on company, team, and/or individual performance results in accordance with company policy.
