The Junior Financial Accountant is part of our Accounting Team based in Amsterdam (uniQure Corporate HQ) and will be operating in a dynamic environment, reporting into the Senior Director Global Accounting and working closely together with the Amsterdam based Finance Manager and team. The position will focus on the accounting for uniQure entities, as well as preparation of P&L, monthly reconciliation of balance sheet accounts. Experience with working in a US public company environment and with SOx404 requirements is a plus. The right person will have the experience, passion, and energy to successfully fulfill a wide variety GL tasks.
Key result areas (major duties, accountabilities and responsibilities)
- Enter monthly accounting journals, reconcile ledgers and other records detailing financial business transactions (e.g. bank statements and reconciliations, rent, service cost and lease contracts accruals, Contractors and SG&A accruals, Fixed Assets, other)
- AP- Vendor creation, PO 3-Way match analyze and check (GRIR), check bank payments
- Reconcile balance sheet accounts and P&L and effectively execute processes that are SOX compliant
- Prepare and reconcile accruals and prepayments and loan schedules
- Maintain monthly foreign exchange rates register and revaluate GL accounts
- Maintain the (in)tangible fixed assets register and record monthly depreciation/amortization
- Create correct and complete VAT, CBS and Intrastat reporting
- Assist in external & internal audit preparations and queries
- Actively participate and bring value to cross functional meetings intended to improve or automate accounting and control processes
Qualifications & Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Economics
- Ability to perform the essential functions of the job typically acquired through practical application of related experience in an international company, including experience with accounting systems (Exact Globe is a plus)
- Good communication skills
- Proficiency in Excel and Microsoft Office products
- Experience with process automation (e.g. Robot Processing Automation (RPA), Bots, etc.) is a plus
- Ability to perform accurate and detailed work in a dynamic environment
- Knows how to prioritize and get things done. Be a self-starter
- Experience or affinity with working in a diverse and international environment
- Fluent in English, both verbal and written
