Description of Work
The Events and Outreach Coordinator is responsible for supporting the goals of the Office of the Executive Vice Chancellor (EVC) by managing events and outreach efforts, including the development of event strategy, design and management of EVC-related events. Working in a fast-paced office, the Events and Outreach Coordinator will independently coordinate all events, conferences and activities for the Office of the Executive Vice Chancellor including but not limited to student, faculty and staff events. Examples of these events include: New Faculty Development Program, First Generation Series; Promotion and Tenure Celebration, The Laurels faculty and staff recognition), the Big Ten Academic Alliance conferences, Department Executive Officer workshop series, retirement receptions, community engagement events, teaching symposia, leadership retreats and campus visitors. The position is responsible for all event details. This position is expected to develop new programs and events in response to the interests of the Executive Vice Chancellor and her leadership team. Outreach activities include managing programming and communications for key stakeholder groups.

The Events and Outreach Coordinator will provide excellent customer service to campus partners and will join an energetic, service-centered, and team-oriented staff in an office that strives to leverage individual strengths, talents, and interests.

Minimum Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree plus 2 years of demonstrated experience managing complex projects and coordinating events required; equivalent education/experience considered.
  • Must have excellent verbal and written communication, interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency with computer software programs (i.e. Microsoft Office Word, Excel, Power Point) necessary.
  • Ability to use sound judgment and discretion in dealing with sensitive and confidential matters essential.
  • A strong service-centered philosophy is required.
  • Must have the ability to work independently and as a team.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of university structure and systems preferred.
  • Experience with social networking strategies desirable.
  • Prefer demonstrated leadership and public speaking skills.
