Description of Work | The Director will provide direction for implementation and ongoing management of the Academic Navigators Team. We are seeking a passionate, organized, diplomatic and experienced leader who is excited to play a leadership role in building a scalable student support program that utilizes the intersection of staff/faculty teams and technology to increase degree completion, close equity gaps, and build an ecology of validation for UNL’s undergraduates.
Focused on utilizing data in support of student success programs and initiatives, the Director will oversee the hiring, training, and joint supervision of a team of Academic Navigators embedded in UNL Colleges, using shared case management approaches to identify and meet student needs. Working in partnership with report writing teams in Institutional Effectiveness and Analytics (IEA), the Office of the University Registrar (OUR), and Academic Services and Enrollment Management (ASEM), the incumbent will provide input on data analytics and student success reporting needs for use by a variety of student success professionals and lead the university-wide Academic Navigators team in providing students resources, support, and referrals based on this data to support degree completion.
The Director will collaborate and consult actively with multiple campus stakeholders from the ranks of academic advising, retention programming, Student Life, and associate deans for undergraduate education. Such work will include updating academic leaders on the progress of the Academic Navigators (AN) team and sharing institutional barriers identified by the AN team with appropriate campus partners to affect change.

Minimum Required Qualifications | Master’s degree and 5 years’ experience supporting student success efforts within an advising, college or cohort retention program which target first year scholars. Experience training and supervising staff. Experience collaborating with colleagues from other campus units. Experience supporting at-promise students in successful retention and degree completion. Experience collaborating with campus partners from a variety of administrative levels. Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize tasks and maintain confidentiality. Strong data skills (including spreadsheet reporting and data management and analysis), research skills, oral and written presentation skills, and demonstrated ability to utilize data to inform and assess student success programming. |
