As the Crops and Livestock Research Technologist II, you will: - Write and develop research protocols and experimental designs based upon faculty requests.
- Manage several research projects concurrently and analyze/report the findings to multiple principal investors.
- Be responsible for overall management of field and laboratory experiments, data collection and processing, and take leadership on field equipment maintenance, repair, and use.
- Implement and conduct field and laboratory experiments, maintain field plot areas, apply insecticides to crops, provide data entry and statistical analysis.
- Manage cattle records at the Great Plains Heifer Development Center, entering weights and breeding data during the artificial insemination (AI) process.
- Manage equipment and transportation logistics, acquisition of supplies, report writing, and other duties that may be delegated.
- Be responsible for hiring of and supervising summer and other hourly employees, collaborate with graduate students.
This position is located at the Haskell Ag Lab near Concord NE. Irregular hours, direct contact with livestock animals, and work in inclement weather required. Position requires obtaining a Non-Commercial Pesticide Applicator’s License, Beef Quality Assurance (BQA) certification, and Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC) certification within six months of employment. Within the UNL system, this position is categorized as a Research Technologist II.
