Description of Work
The Assistant Director, IT Organizational Change Management and Communications is a dynamic highly collaborative role focused on fostering a positive, transparent, and highly accountable environment for IT initiatives at the University of Nebraska. Reporting to the AVP for IT Strategy, this position is essential for developing and executing clear and concise IT communication strategies and proactive organizational change management processes that support a seamless transition for all stakeholders University-wide.

Key responsibilities include providing management of the IT project management team, leading communication and organizational change management for critical enterprise IT services, gathering key data from stakeholders both in and outside NU ITS, ensuring that all targets and deliverables are met, and helping to capture the work of the department that aligns with NU-wide strategy.

This position will uphold the ITS core principles of outstanding collaboration and communication, a drive to succeed, a passion for higher learning, and acting with integrity.

Minimum Required Qualifications
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree
Five (5) years of experience in organizational change management, IT portfolio and project management, logistics, communication, or work related to the key responsibilities.
Experience leading large, critical change management initiatives or projects
Demonstrated knowledge of project management methodologies, project management tools and software
Demonstrated experience and proficiency utilizing a wide array of communication avenues in support of internal and external communication initiatives.
Proficiency in computer/software including Microsoft Office suite, organizational survey tools, and communication/data visualization tools.

Equivalent combination of education, experience, that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities may be considered.
Preferred Qualifications

Seven (7) years of experience.
Experience in a higher education or academic environment
Project management certification (e.g. PMI or PMP certification or equivalent)
Master’s degree, graduate coursework, or alternative credentials that develop skills related to key responsibilities.

Must have the ability to understand and communicate technical/functional information to both technical and non-technical audiences. The ideal candidate is an agile professional with strong interpersonal communication skills, problem solving skills, flexibility and responsiveness; exhibits high ethical standards; proficient in managing time and competing priorities; responsive and committed to managing, supporting and motivating staff; and is committed to the ideals of a major public research university.
