Job Description

GENERAL POSITION SUMMARY:

The Laboratory Information Systems – Principal Business Analyst will provide functional, technical, and project leadership for the Enterprise Application and Analytics team at Vertex, working primarily with a LIMS platform and supporting business stakeholders in research, process development, clinical & commercial manufacturing, and quality assurance operations. Major activities include supporting implementation of new business capabilities in enterprise LIMS for both GxP and non-GxP purposes, integrating to laboratory systems (E.g. simple and complex instruments, Chromatography Data System etc.) and technology platforms (ERP, CMMS, MES, etc.), collaborating with business partners to identify and prioritize areas for opportunity, gathering and refining requirements, working with supplier technical SMEs to determine options for solution design, delivering enhancements, and managing technology-driven projects and initiatives.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Collaborate with business stakeholders to understand their current and future state strategy, needs and requirements from a global perspective
  • Proactively offer innovative technologies, solution ideas, and potential business process improvements in pursuit of driving efficiencies and meeting business needs
  • Working closely with on-site business users and other stakeholders, elicit, document and translate complex issues, design options and solutions to a variety of audiences
  • Lead technology-driven projects, managing phases and coordinating tasks, ensuring that deliverables are produced on schedule and with high quality
  • Design, perform and document system configurations for a new LIMS implementation, including sample management, results analysis, lab workflow, release & stability management, Lab Execution System (LES) / Electronic Lab Notebooks (ELN), etc.
  • Provide on-site support for system go-lives
  • Partner with managed services team members and DTE peers for platform and database support, as well as technical development for enhancements and projects
  • Work closely with DTE Compliance, Internal Audit and Quality Assurance groups as needed to ensure compliance with GxP regulations, as well as our DTE system lifecycle and change management requirements

REQUIRED SKILLS:

  • Deep experience with LIMS and related laboratory systems (E.g. LES, ELN, CDS, SDMS etc.) platforms in both quality control and research & development settings, and large-scale system implementations, upgrades, enhancements, and operational support procedures
  • Demonstrated ability to translate business needs into user & functional requirements and technical or process-driven solutions
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and collaborative skills
  • Solid analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Proven project management and system life cycle expertise

PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • B.S. and 7+ years relevant work experience
  • Functional/Technical knowledge in quality & laboratory disciplines in the Life Science industry
  • Rich experience in research and manufacturing lab domains, business processes and the application of current commercial technology platforms to solve the most common business needs
  • Experience in LabVantage LIMS and other LabVantage modules
  • Experience working with managed services and/or offshore teams
  • Experience with analytical tools and platforms

In this Hybrid-Eligible role, you can choose to be designated as:
1. Hybrid: work remotely up to two days per week; or select
2. On-Site: work five days per week on-site with ad hoc flexibility.
