Job Description

Vertex is looking to hire an experienced, proactive and dedicated Senior Coordinator II to join our Patient Support team playing a critical role directly supporting three key leaders on the team, driving our GPS Leadership Team activities, and leading key department-wide activities. The Patient Support team (Guidance & Patient Support or “GPS”) is a group of passionate and determined individuals who provide personalized reimbursement, educational, and ongoing product adherence support for program-enrolled patients who have been prescribed one of our Cystic Fibrosis (CF) medicines. GPS is comprised of three integrated teams: (1) Patient Support, (2) Operations, and (3) Patient Experience.

The Patient Support Operations Coordinator II will play a critical role in helping the broader GPS team deliver against its vision of offering industry standard setting support to patients with CF, their families/caregivers, and their clinical care teams. The Coordinator will support the team of over 130 Vertex employees by helping plan and execute important initiatives that drive results. They are a key member of the GPS Leadership team, a driver of activities that make our department better and a catalyst for positive change that benefits our team and patients.

Reporting Structure: To Vice President & Head of GPS and is based onsite at our Boston Seaport location (hybrid 3 days onsite, 2 days flexible)

Key Responsibilities

  • Directly supports the Vice President and two Area Patient Support Leaders with all administrative needs; prioritizes and manages schedules, key meetings, travel, and more

  • Proactively supports the GPS Leadership Team, including managing agendas and content and project timelines to ensure execution against our annual goals, developing content, presentations and taking on special projects on behalf of the GPS Leadership team

  • Coordinates GPS-wide team meetings end to end, influencing engaging content based on business need and team feedback, assisting with presentation development, supporting hybrid meetings and generating energy through onsite meetings and new approaches; includes department offsite meetings and special events, and project management and shaping content for large department meetings

  • Advances best in class approaches for enabling and evolving a hybrid work environment that accelerates our high performing team, including serving as our lead for office space updates, in-person team building activities and navigating working norms

  • Plays a key role in support our culture across the department, infusing our patient focus and stories into our daily team activities, interactions and space, and cross-functional workstreams to make the GPS team better

  • Creates and maintains communication platforms that help provide consistent and timely information to a large and growing team, drives simplified communications across the department including knowledge management and key newsletters

  • Coordinates catering/meal ordering for team meetings/events

  • Assists with new hire on-boarding in close partnership with cross-functional partners

  • Works in close partnership with the Administrative Assistant supporting our Patient Experience and Operations teams

  • Takes on special projects on behalf of the GPS leadership team, and participates in various cross-functional workstreams to make the GPS team better

Qualifications & Required Skills

  • Typically requires 4 years of work experience or the equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Significant experience with outlook calendar management and administrative responsibilities

  • Experience driving critical projects, including a track record of proactive project management and use of tools to deliver results

  • Strong passion for working in patient support and directly engaging with a large & vibrant team

In this Hybrid-Eligible role, you can choose to be designated as:
1. Hybrid: work remotely up to two days per week; or select
2. On-Site: work five days per week on-site with ad hoc flexibility.
