The Opportunity
At Abbott diabetes care (ADC) , we’re dedicated to providing people with diabetes the freedom to continuously monitor and track their glucose levels with unsurpassed 14-day accuracy and no painful fingerstick.
As the Regional Sales and Key Accounts Manager, you’ll lead our sales team and direct the account management process to ensure optimal leverage of ADC resources and activities, driving positive guidance, advocacy, and sales within South Africa.
What You’ll Do:
- Develop & Drive Sales Solutions: Create strategies to grow sales and gain market access for ADC’s product portfolio.
- Achieve Sales Targets: Meet national sales targets and goals set by the Business Unit Manager.
- Manage Key Accounts: Oversee retailer, hospital groups, and wholesaler accounts, ensuring all contractual obligations and services are met.
- Collaborate with Healthcare Providers: Work with private hospital groups and the National Department of Health to secure future business through tender/formulary submissions.
- Lead Account Management: Coordinate activities, planning, and resource allocation to maximize sales growth and brand advocacy.
- Customer Engagement: Take ownership of key customers to ensure optimal product portfolio growth.
- Implement Marketing Strategies: Execute promotional campaigns across the ADC product and service portfolio.
- Develop Team Skills: Enhance the selling skills and product knowledge of team members through coaching and field visits.
- Monitor Performance: Track the sales team’s performance and activities using the Abbott-approved CRM tool.
- Event Planning: Assist with planning and executing healthcare professional meetings and events.
- Administrative Management: Handle all sales team-related management and admin tasks, including annual leave planning, expense reports, and conference schedules.
- Recruitment and Staffing: Manage the recruitment and deployment of staff within the geographical area.
- Data Analysis and Budget Management: Oversee regional data analysis, administration, and budget management.
- Utilize FOC Stock: Ensure effective use of FOC stock to meet business obligations.
- Project Management: Lead projects to improve internal and customer effectiveness.
- Compliance: Ensure all activities comply with quality system requirements.
- Customer Feedback: Modify proposals and plans based on customer feedback.
- Business Development: Represent the sales management team in wider business development projects.
Required Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree/Master’s in business or health sciences, or significant sales management experience in medical devices, pharmaceuticals, or healthcare.
- Experience: Minimum of 3 years as a sales manager or in a leadership role with a proven track record.
- Skills: Strong experience in pharmaceutical or medical devices, wholesaler and retailer relationship management, influencing key stakeholders, presenting, negotiating, coaching, prioritization, and time management.
- Healthcare Knowledge: Comprehensive understanding of the healthcare landscape in South Africa.
- Travel: Ability to travel locally and internationally (40%-50% travel required).
- Field Work: Minimum of 4 days per week infield with sales reps across South Africa.
- License: Must have a valid license and reliable vehicle.
