The Opportunity
The Medical Affairs Specialist provides serve as a scientific peer to the medical and scientific community on behalf of the organization. They will interact, establish, and maintain peer to peer relationship with disease area experts and KOLs in Ministries of Health, Research and Academic Institutions, and NGOs. They will also ensure, together with the regulatory and legal department, that all the written documents are accurate and in line with the medical guidelines. In addition, they will ensure that the products are used effectively and as intended while providing input on relevant medical and scientific data. To ensure successful sales of the targeted product in the location, the MSL will work in close collaboration cross-functionally with the market access and sales department. The MSL will also empower the sales representative in the country will all the product scientific information needed to be able to sell the product effectively and with confidence.
WHAT WILL YOU DO?
Disease Area Understanding
- Maintain a detailed understanding of the disease area and a deep appreciation of the science and evidence for ARDx technologies and the other Point of Care technologies in the market.
Gather feedback and insights
- Gather feedback and insights from KOLs to better inform ARDx research and to be able to inform the overall strategic direction of the Africa Business Unit. Develop a KOL mapping exercise for each country and each disease area.
Scientific Engagement Activities
- Proactively identify clinical and post-marketing study investigators and develop relationships in them in order to facilitate faster and more efficient clinical evaluations.
- Address clinical questions related to clinical research and investigator-initiated research opportunities, connecting the site/KOL to the appropriate function in the business.
- Support medical affairs medical education and evidence dissemination activities through Focus Group Discussions, Advisory Boards, Webinars and Round Tables.
Evidence Generation
- Facilitate protocol design to conduct evidence generation studies to support in-country adoption.
- Engage with Ministries of health to obtained evaluations approvals and investigators to align protocols with country requirements.
- Follow-up on evidence generation studies and feedback to the business.
Developing KOL relationships
- Proactively identify and develop long term peer-to-peer relationships with opinion leaders and other relevant stakeholders in order to understand their needs, segment them accordingly and implement targeted approach and tactics in order to present medical data in the most efficient way.
Collaboration
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Marketing, Market Access, Sales to generate leads to support the evidence planning and evidence generation strategy.
Qualifications:
- Must be a Qualified Medical Doctor, or would consider a PHD in health sciences or Registered DPharm qualification
Competencies:
- Minimum of 2 years in Research Institute or Pharma/Diagnostics company
- Good market knowledge of a healthcare environment
- Customer facing and strong relationship building experience
- Strong understanding of the medical field and the future developments.
- Strong understanding in interpreting and communicating clinical data with internal and external stakeholders.
- Bilingual (French and English) with excellent communication skills both written and verbal
- Being able to work both individually as in teams
- Innovative Approach
- Willing to travel over 30%
- Must be located within West or Central Africa (ideally Abidjan, Dakar or Kinshasa)
